We visited Roma on the weekend of the marathon, where almost all accommodation was booked out.
I based my decision on TripAdvisor reviews and I have to say it was well worth it. The hospitality is excellent and Frank will provide you with a local map and point out the sights as well as some great places for coffee and food.
Arriving at Roma Termini, it took 15 minutes for us to find our bearings and make our way to the location. There is an indiscreet front door with a buzzer, and luckily there is an elevator to take you to the room.
There are 2 rooms available, and we stayed in the room with a courtyard view that had a separate bathroom in the hallway. It was incredibly quiet and peaceful, and the hallway is always empty and private so our bathroom is easy to reach.
The location near Piazza Vittoria Emanuele is quite good too, because there is a Metro station there on the red line, as well as buses from Roma Termini that take you towards Trastevere and the theatre/piazza Argentina.
We really enjoyed avoiding the touristy restaurants with English menus, and found an eatery near the Piazza called Angelinos which served great dishes.More
