We were looking for somewhere in Rome that would be close to sights and also nearby to great restaurants. We found this and much more at Maison Giulia. This little gem was beyond our expectations. We were able to walk everywhere, great shopping near by as well. The staff were friendly and spoke english well. We had to leave early the following morning, and even though we did mention this at time of booking, we left without any breakfast. The pastries were in a box at reception, and we were looking forward to the great coffee we had heard so much about, this wasn't offered to us. Never the less we will be back next time we visit Rome!

Very close to main sights like Campo di Fiori,Trevi Fountain, vatican City and Colisseum. Our room was a bit small for us and too firm bed. Staff is very helpful and kind. Great experience overall.

Took my mum and best friend to Rome for the first time (having been three times before) and decided to book one of the self catering apartments on offer with the Maison Giulia. I was immediately impressed by the reviews on Tripadvisor, and the fact that the few bad ones had been given responses by the owners.

Our own experience was positive from the word go. We decided to arrange the taxi service through the Maison so that we didn't have to bustle through the crowds at Ciampino for a regular taxi. It cost 45euros which is a little more than a normal white taxi but it was totally worth it - we were collected in a shiny black mercedes and within half an hour of landing, were already at the accommodation. We were so impressed that we decided to splash out and organise for the same service for the journey back.

On arrival at the Maison we were greeted by Alessandro who was exceedingly cheery and helpful. We decided to pay for our apartment before seeing it even and paid in cash (which we got a discount for). We were then given maps and advice on where to eat (which we followed and which really paid off) before being taken to the apartment. We were in Residenza Giulia which can accommodated 5 people. It was perfect for us as it meant we had a bed each. The main bedroom was stunning - looking out onto the orangery and grounds of the Palazzo Spada (a palace at the back of our digs!!!). There was lots of spare lined and cushions and cupboards full of all necessary niknaks. In the main lounge we pulled down the massive double sofa bed and I used the single bed that was already set up in the same room.

The apartment is full of rustic charm because it is a 17th centuy palazzo in its own right - expect exposed wooden beams, wooden floorboards and antique looking furniture combined with more practical items from ikea. Don't expect too many mod cons like microwaves or kettles. There is a fridge freezer, oven, coffee machine, 32" TV (no English channels) and wifi though - everything you need for an enjoyable stay. The bathroom is small but perfectly fitted out with toilet, bidet, sink and shower. Its not necessarily as posh or up to date as what you'd get in a hotel but it suited our needs perfectly - the water pressure was excellent and there were plenty of towels provided. The lightbulb did go twice but we just re-arranged from other rooms.

The best thing about this apartment is the fact that you can get some privacy if you're in a small group and the location is PERFECT - 50m away from the main Maison Giulia, opposite the Ponte Sisto and AMAZING foodie area of Trastevere, half way between the Colosseum and St Peters and 5min walk from the Campo de Fiori. Despite this it was extremely quiet! Everywhere else I have stayed in Rome you get woken up by horns hooting or market traders setting up - because this backs onto the Palazzo Spada it was really quiet, the entire side and back of the building is in a closed off area controlled by police.

I would definately stay here again - we didn't miss not getting the breakfast included because we just headed to Trastevere every morning for espresso and croissant (x3 only 9 euro!). Stay here - go on!

We are just back from Rome where we stayed at Maison Giulia for three nights. We had a wonderful stay in that charming place. The place is quiet, clean and ideally situated close to Campo dei Fiori. On top of that, the personnel is friendly and always ready to give you some good advices. Highly recommended!

The staff here were very accommodating and spoke great english. The hotel was very clean and the bathroom size was nice. Rooms were a little small - but it's central Rome. My sister and I walked to almost every attraction in Rome from here and there were plenty of nice shops and restaurants around. I would definitely recommend! Breakfast was adequate - but the coffee was awesome. Bring some earplugs as the walls are thin.
