I have just spent three days at La Piccola Maison and can highly recommend it. As others have said, from the first enquiry answered promptly by Giorgio the service has been great. The guest house looks exactly as shown in the photos - its clean and bright, rooms are on the smaller side but have everything you need, and the bathroom looks brand new and stocked with a range of toiletries and brand new towels. Lots of hot water and a good powerful shower.

Mara who runs the place for Giorgio is amazing - always smiling, full of helpful information and does all she can to make your stay easy. I booked a taxi pick up via Giorgio ($38 so less than the going rate) and it was wonderful to be met after a long flight and be taken right to the front door of the guesthouse. There is no breakfast provided but there are a number of cafes about 25 metres from the front door - and its much more fun to sit outside and people watch while having a coffee in Rome anyway! The main road can be a little noisy - but at night I closed the wooden shutters and the windows (double glazed) and had a very sound sleep. You can walk easily to so many wonderful sights - and the Metro Barbarini is about 50 metres walk for longer journeys.

I would definitely recommend La Piccolo Maison to anyone who wants a very reasonably priced, clean, safe, central base from which to explore Rome that is run by people who really want you to have a good visit. I would not hesitate to stay here again - go ahead and book it now!

We really enjoyed our stay at La Piccola Maison. Great location and very good rooms. The staff were very friendly and helpful including organising a car pickup from the Rome airport.

My husband and I stayed for our honeymoon several months ago and from beginning to end we loved the hotel. We were even given a complimentary bottle of wine for our stay. Our room was spacious and very clean and the hotel location is PERFECT!! You are really in walking distance of everything and so close to the main attractions of Rome and the price is very reasonable!
Giorgio took incredible good care of us and went out of his way to recommend the best restaurants for us. He even made reservations for us and told us where he himself would dine.
It was an incredible stay and we wouldn`t go anywhere else!!
Thank you Giorgio and team at la Piccola Maison.
I highly recommend this B&B!

We spent a great week at La Piccola Maison. As other reviewers have noted, this is not really a hotel. It is a group of rooms on the second floor of a building. The room we had was very spacious for central Rome with a large, excellent bathroom. There is no lobby or eating facility. It is more like renting a studio without cooking facilities. The reviewers who call this a B&B fail to note there is no coffee or breakfast. But that is inconsequential since there are restaurants and coffee places within a one minute walk.

When we first got there, I have to admit I was somewhat disappointed. The furnishings seemed somewhat spartan, sort of modern Roman style without decoration. I can't give it five stars as many reviewers do because it just isn't a five star property. (I regret that as time goes on with Tripadvisor, it seems that anywhere that is enjoyable gets five stars from most reviewers.) If three stars is average, then this is a four star because it really is nice and is a great place to stay in Rome at a reasonable price in a great neighborhood.

As time went on, it became more of a home than a hotel room. Isn't that what we want when we visit a great city like Rome? What stands out is the location which simply could not be better. It is a few doors off Via Veneto and a two minute walk to Piazza Barbarieni. The metro stop is less than a two minute walk. From the hotel, one can easily walk to the best locations in Rome. Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps, Piazza Navona, and the Coloseum/ Forum are all within easy walking distance.

Having the metro so close was the real plus. We would walk to our destinations and take public transport back. Termini is two stops away so you can use the metro, bus, or trams to go anywhere. When you return, it is two minutes to the hotel.

As every reviewer has correctly noted, the staff is friendly and helpful. When we were there, Mara was in the office most of the time, and she is just great. The place is super clean, and there is a good spirit that is contagious.

As for Rome, a few suggestions. If you go to the Vatican, spend some extra money and go on a tour that will take you there before it opens. We went on the "Pristine Sistine" tour (google it), and it made a huge difference. When we entered the Sistine Chapel, there were fewer than 50 people there, and it was quiet and beautiful. We had almost an hour to ourselves with this overwhelming work of art. When we returned later, it was filled with people and noisy. It would not have made much of an impression on me as has happened in other crowded sites. Villa Borghese is worth a long visit. The Villa itself is wonderful, and don't miss the Modern Art Museum. The whole area is a beautiful park. Also, go to Trastevere. It is a great neighborhood. I'd consider staying there next time to enjoy more ordinary Roman life. Finally, we did a day in Orvieto which is only an hour and 20 minutes away. It was nearly empty in May, and was a treat. Do the cave tour and find out why pigeon is on the menu there.

I wouldn't hesitate to stay at La Piccola Maison again. In fact, it would be hard to get me to go elsewhere if I planned to enjoy the center of Rome again.

Just returned from a great visit to Italy...first stop was three nights at the La Piccola Maison. A beautiful, quaint B&B with the best possible location. A wonderful, clean, quiet room and a friendly staff... who could ask for anything more!

Room Tip: Leave it to the staff...tell them what you want and they will make the best choice.
