We stayed at this wonderful B&B for nights in early June and I cannot recommend it more.
We had been travelling around from place to place - Paris, Florence and Sorrento - and this, is by far the best place we have stayed on our trip!
On arrival we were a little concerned as from the street it doesn't look like a guesthouse but as soon as you get out of the lift on the 4th floor and are met by a smiling Agostino you feel much more relaxed. Agostino met us and brought us a glass of orange juice and croissant, introduced us to the room and then spent a long time explaining all the sites to us and the best way not get there. He also recommended a tour of the Vatican and Sistine Chanel, which was wonderful.
The room (we had the winter room) was wonderful. I think I did a little squeal as it was so airy and spacious, so clean and a lovely big bathroom- we had just come from an AWFUL place in Sorrento so I was s happy to be in a very lovely room.
The room has air con, modern well looked after furnishings, clean towels daily and your room is cleaned and tidied daily. It is also SPOTLESS! I don't think I have stayed in a cleaner hotel room and it is a long time since I have been somewhere and thought 'this is better than home'.
Breakfast is served in your room at your own table and chairs- sweetly filled croissants from the 24 hour bakery next door, toast, boiled eggs, cheeses ham, fruit, juice and coffee! Absolutely no need for lunch!!!!
It is 10 mins walk to St Peters square and the Vatican museums. It is a 5 min walk to the nearest metro that will wish you into town for 1 euro 50. There are lots of lovely restaurants in the area - listen to Agostino as the 2 restaurants he recommended were wonderful! Firstly 'Vito and Dino's simple food- reasonably priced but then if you can be patient to wait of a table then visit the Antica Griglia Toscana restaurant. Wonderful food and wine! The best tagliatelle with porcine mushrooms I have ever had.
We have walked home very late at night and found it very safe.
The only negative- and as I am trying to give the most honest account of my stay I have to mention it- is that the door into the guest house is VERY narrow. Most people would have to go through at a slight diagonal to get through ( unless you are blessed with small bones) so if you are a person who is on the larger side then it is quite difficult to get in and out of the door and it can make you feel uncomfortable.
However, this has far and away been the best place I have ever stayed within continental Europe and if we return to Rome I would have no hesitation in booking to stay here again.
