“Wonderful experience”

This is an old convent that has been remodeled into a lovely hotel. We had both a King Size boardroom overlooking the courtyard (on the day we arrived) and then returned for an 8 days stay in a King Size Suite, which was a true suite - bedroom with large bath and then a separate living room with TV, desk, sofa and chairs. Since we stayed here for 8 days, it allowed one of us to sleep or nap while the other one attended to email, read or watched TV. The furnishings are old fashioned elegant, the beds very comfortable and the bathroom thoroughly modern. The breakfast was excellent, including eggs, cheeses, prosciutto, ham, salami, different types of cakes, muffins and even some excellent small croissants. It is served in an arched area - probably a former cloister. We went in March so the courtyard and roof deck were not in service, but the view from the roof deck is spectacular. Service was excellent. Do not miss the chapel that opens from the reception area. We also had no problems asking the reception to obtain taxis for us which came in less than 10 minutes, but we did most of our exploring on foot. This is not an area served by the Rome metro, but we were able to walk everywhere. The hotel does not have its own restaurant, but there are wonderful choices nearby, so we did not find this a problem. We have been to Rome a dozen times, and have stayed in a variety of places, from the Via Veneto to the Via del Corso. Each has its benefits, but this stay was truly special. We highly recommend it.

Room Tip: Ask for room with view of courtyard.

Booked through British Airways Avios points my wife and were delighted with our choice. Trastevere is an ideal location - plenty of choices to eat and drink within a 5 minute walk and a safe authentic vibe much in evidence. All the tourist sites were within walking distance - but you need to be fit and have comfortable shoes - otherwise a taxi. And so to the Hotel. Class, in abundance, with professional staff there when you needed them. Our room was 100% clean and attractive - we had not booked a room with a view - as we had not planned to spend much time tucked away...The breakfast was buffet style and expansive - fresh tea and coffee served by the helpful smiling waiting staff. The ambience is calm, classy, and chic. I would now find it hard to stay anywhere else the next time in Rome.

Room Tip: The room numbers seem to be in reverse - 6th is basement, 1st is top floor.

We found this hotel after several great reviews on Trip Advisor. I was intrigued after reading it was a 17th century convent, so we talked to a few locals and they also recommended. It's located within walking distance to Trastevere, which is packed with great restaurants, shopping and nightlife. The hotel is near a top of a hill and is quiet at night. Rooms weren't over the top, but very comfortable and tastefully decorated with excellent marble bathrooms that were very clean. They have a great (free) breakfast in the mornings that you can enjoy in the courtyard or the parlor. and they make a good caffe and kept bringing them.

The hotel has a very nice feel--maybe it's the nuns that still live in one wing! Many of the original sculptures, woodwork and art appear throughout the hotel and add a nice touch to a newly renovated building. There is also a rooftop deck with 360 view of Rome where you can have a drink and take some photos.

The bar and common areas have free wi-fi (the rooms don't have wi-fi, but you can plug in via ethernet).

Overall, great hotel, great service and great location. We would stay there again and highly recommend. Do it.

Stayed for 3 nights in April 2012. The hotel itself is an old convent and still keeps many of its original charateristics. The staff are friendly, rooms are spacious and clean. On a morning you could find a good selection at breakfast.

Many of the main attractions in Rome can be reached easily on foot within 20/30mins (including Vatican, Colloseum, Pantheon etc). Service was highly attentive and small touches including slippers by bed were not left unnoticed.

Recommend to couples, families and business professionals alike.

We stayed at the Donna Camilla Savelli for 2 nights/3 days in April 2012. The hotel is beautiful, the courtyard an oasis of beauty and calm in the middle of bustling Trastevere. The breakfast (included) had wonderful coffee and food, and the staff was simply amazing. We got lucky and were upgraded to a terraced room with an amazing view, and luckier yet, we were able to park our rental car on the grounds (an amenity that we appreciated as NYers). We love Rome, and are definitely going back to Donna Camilla Savelli -- in fact, we are already planning our 2013 trip.
