We have been to Usodimare two times now, once for a late night supper and once for our noon meal, and both have been so good. This October we took advantage of some unseasonably warm weather to enjoy their great seafood while enjoying the view of the sea.
We started with the fresh seafood salad, a great mix of shrimp cocktail, bianchetti, octopus, fried kabobs, etc. So good! Then I had the spaghetti with pistachio pesto and shrimp, the house specialty. The pesto doesn't have a very strong flavor of pistachio, just enough to give it a unique and different touch. My husband had the paccheri with clams and mussels and sweet little cherry tomatoes. Our dining companion had the paccheri with swordfish. All were yummy. The wine we had was unbelievable good Mussignaz Muller Thurgau wine that was the perfect complement to our meal. What a fruity nose, not sweet, but so aromatic and refreshing served icy cold. We won't forget it!
Dessert was the weakest link. I split a cannolo with my friend, but it wasn't worth it. A bit soggy and too cold taken right from the cooler. I would have preferred a nice platter of fruit that I saw folks at the neighboring table enjoy. My advice...skip the dessert and go for another bottle of wine!
One negative is the parking situation. The parking lot in front of the restaurant is quite small and the overflow lot is across the street. Crossing this heavily trafficked road is a bit dicey. Cars zoom along and don't always observe the pedestrians in the crosswalk. Just keep your wits about you when you are crossing, especially after that second bottle of wine! Buon appetito!
