We were trying to see if was possible to change our tickets for Capri for another day and without much explanation in return we got be worse treatment possible. Rude staff, unhelpful and ignorant. Ruined our mood for the entire day, so much attitude and basically kicked us out before being able to ask almost anything. For 40€ per person, I would definitely go to another company

In traveling from Sorrento to Capri, I suggest the hydrofoil boat, which takes approximately 20 minutes to get to Capri....as opposed to 50-55 minutes by ferry.
A couple of tips:
1. when you get to the port, there is "controlled chaos" between the lines for the ferry and the hydrofoil. Ferry tickets are sold on the upper section and hydrofoil on the lower level. Yes, you WILL stand in line for either. Once you get your ticket (it cost me 77 euro for two round trip tickets) and leave the ticket window, bear to your left and head up to the boarding area;
2. If it is a clear day, with a calm sea, try to sit up top in the open area; if the sea is choppy (even on a sunny day) you may want to sit inside because you may have a sea spray bath on the way to Capri;
3. When you get to Capri, don't be confused. This port area of souvenir shops is NOT Capri town. As you disembark and enter the port area, look to your left and you will see the arch with the word Funiculor (spelling?) lettered across it. Head there, buy your ticket (2 euro, I think) and head up to Capri town....it's a simple tram ride of a few minutes, and deposits you into the shopping area of Capri town.
Final note about the hydrofoil - don't expect it to be anything other than transportation...the attendants are less than charming, and there is a scramble for seating.

We bought the tickets one day ahead from the departure. The agents were very friendly and efficient. They explained that we needed to arrive 20 minutes before departure and showed us where to form the line. The fare was 23 Euros one way per person. We arrived the next morning at 9am for the 9:30 ferry. We were one of the first in line and quickly sat on the top deck along with other travelers. The ride was one hour and we enjoyed the beautiful Amalfi Coast scenery. Not sure why others had a bad experience, we thought it was very adequate. This is not the Love Boat or a fancy cruise ship, just get on and enjoy the ride.

I stayed in Sorrento and wanted to visit Capri. Taking the Gescab is a quick way to get between these two locations. I'd definitely recommend using the Gescab and it's very affordable too given the breathtaking views! Sit on the top deck and get your camera out!

Went from Sorrento to Capri on this con of a ferry company. You have to pay their exhorbitant fares of 40euros return and the timetable is not as published. Basic and just like cattle herding. Unfortunately there is no other way to Capri unless you can swim well. Only 30 min trip but very confusing as to where you buy your ticket and who you end up going with. Organised chaos.
