In its day I'm sure this place was indeed a 'grand palace' but it's in need of some renovation, it's somewhat faded grandeur these days.
It's position on the cliffs is spectacular but it's directly over the main harbour so there is quite a lot of ferry noise. And due to work on a new jetty directly under our window, we were awoken each morning at 6am by hammering and chainsaws!
The staff are lack lustre, pleasant enough but due no doubt to the general management and lack of training and service culture, it just feels like each request is an effort. The room was not serviced twice a day as advertised, dirty glasses not removed, requests to reception not actioned, mini bar was empty and not filled up despite our requests so we had to pay room service charges.
The breakfast has a dated buffet style to it - tinned fruit(!) and you had to ask for a pot for tea every time, kept in the back somewhere apparently!
Tables were not set up outside despite the weather being glorious.
The pool area is shabby and the steps to it in dire need of renovation, bordering on dangerous in places, lift didn't work, not a problem for us to do the 250 down and up but not good for anyone older or less able.
Generally, we were disappointed but unable to really explain this at the hotel as the English capability of even the reception staff was limited so it was too much effort to try to get anything rectified. Won't return.

Stunning views of Amalfi Coast. Breakfast over looking the bay. Convenient to Piazza Tasso but a bit tucked away from hustle & bustle. Ask for Giruseppe. He was amazing with assistance and information. Will definitely stay again.

Room Tip: Best time is spring & fall - before high season sets in.

This is a beautiful hotel in the old Italian style, our room is large and with a balcony looking out to sea bathroom with good quality shower ,no bath ,but plenty toiletries an very clean. The breakfast as lots to offer for everyone and we have enjoyed ours on the terrace overlooking the marina picalo ,versuvius and the bay of Naples! In the evening after a hectic day you can relax with a drink in the piano bar live music ,all the staff are very helpful with any information you may need

The hotel looks very impressive on entry and the public rooms are gorgeous. It is very near to the centre of Sorrento. The single room I was allocated however had no view at all only other windows in what was basically a ventilation shaft. A bit like a cell really. The en-suite shower room was narrower than a corridor and you had to kind of shimmy to get to the toilet behind the door. That said the double rooms I managed to view looked very nice. We had dinner in the hotel and the food was pretty mediocre, not your normal Italian deliciousness. The staff in the dining room were friendly and charming. I would stay here again if I had a double room and I could eat out every night.

Loved our stay at this hotel. Located only a few blocks from train and bus stations in a upscale area of Sorrento just a couple of blocks to Marina and to shopping and restaurants. Our room opened up to a terrace and it felt like we had our own private terrace. The breakfast was wonderful with eggs, sausage, bacon, cold cuts, and all kinds of breads and cereals and yogurts and the restaurant overlooks the ocean or you can eat at a lower terrace with a gorgeous view. Dinner was a little pricey. If I had to do it again I would not eat at the hotel. Rooms are spacious and bathroom had a nice tub for soaking.

Room Tip: Choose a room with a view!
