Loved everything about this hotel and could not fault it - and I can always find some fault. The setting is amazing and staff really friendly and so helpful with restaurant bookings, tourist attractions, etc. Breakfast was the best ever - the pastries were better than most London hotel afternoon teas. Will definitely return one day...

I took my wife to the Amalfi Coast for her 50th birthday and the first hotel we stayed in was the Grand Hotel Royal. This property and facility are elegant and offer breathtaking views. The hotel service was superb, the room was immaculate, and the daily breakfast buffet was absolutely amazing. The hotel is centrally located and you can easily walk to the major attractions around the area and to public transportation.

Thank you for a fantastic stay and for making my wife's birthday so memorable!

Room tip: Do yourself a favor and book an ocean front room!

The hotel is excellent especially with a sea facing room where your view of Vesuvius is special. The staff are generally all very helpful and friendly and furnishings in bedrooms and general lounges were excellent.
Lunches on the balcony were excellent albeit we settled mainly for salads again with good service.
I would visit again but I would not eat in the dining room in the evening again. Bed and breakfast is the only way to go with this restaurant.
We had bought half board for 3 nights but after sampling the dinner once we opted not to use that dining room again. We mentioned this to the Maitre de who was very polite and understanding and we also noticed there were only about ten tables in the vast dining rooms occupied on a Saturday night. He referred us to the Restaurant Manager a couple of days later who was quite dismissive and rude and explained that 80 to 90 % of the guests were bed and breakfast but despite this he "knew" his food was good.
Excellent hotel but spoiled by this manager and dinner quality.
There are many excellent better quality and surprisingly cheaper options.

Room tip: Sea view room at a high level are excellent. But stick to bed and breakfast

The lounge areas are everwhere very nice and big. We had a beautful (Prestige) room with fantastic views . The room itself was good sized, a beautiful bathroom, and a good bed. Luxurious. The breakfast in this hotel is high class, even omelettes made fresh for you. It is just a few steps up to Sorrento town. The garden is also very, very nice, with a separate lift down to th sea. The food in the restaurant very good. We had only one problem, if you in the afternoon want a sandwich a cake or similar, it is not possible. In the bar they only serve drinks. In the restaurant, they expect you to eat a meal.

Room tip: High up, towards the sea

The hotel is beautiful, situated at the best location. The breakfast is great but the coffee can be improved to Italian coffee standard. The suite is very clean and the service is also very good. We would definitely either come back to Grand Hotel Royal or try their other hotels in Sorrento for a change. It is also good booking directly with them.
