“Fantastic Hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 July 2012

The staff are very friendly cant do enough for you, the hotel is clean and so beautiful and the pool is wonderful to relax and read a book there is also a bar so no shortage of drinks and nibbles and also a restaurant at the pool. Sorrento is lovely and Capri is only 20mins on ferry we had a week in Capri but it is well worth going over for the day its stunning but expensive, we went away from the main places like the Marina and the plazza where it is quite expensive.....

Yes definetly go back to the Excelsior Vittoria fantastic hotel live music on the terrice at night over looking the med and mount versuvius with a drink amazing.........

Room Tip: One with a sea view...

We have just returned from spending four truly fantastic days in this hotel. It was a treat for my wife’s 40th birthday and so an occasion that we wanted to be special and it did not disappoint.
The minute that you arrive at the splendid hotel you know that it will be a special experience . We were greeted at the door by the concierge and made to feel very welcome.
I had already booked a suite for the occasion but were delighted to find that we had been upgraded to an even bigger suite with a balcony over looking the marina – it was just fantastic.
I cannot praise the staff and facilities in this hotel enough – the food, the service, the warm courteous reception that we received by everyone in the hotel made this stay a truly memorable one, for both my wife and I.
I would have to say that the waiter working on the terrace bar was far too over stretched and was working flat out to keep up with the drinks orders but needed some assistance. On more than one occasion we had to wait at least thirty minutes for a drink. If it wasn’t for the views of the bay of Naples this would have otherwise have been very annoying.
Also if the management read these reviews – please stop allowing coach loads of Chinese tourists who don’t stay in the hotel to turn up and crowd people’s tables when they are enjoying intimate drinks on the balcony. One evening my wife and I, along with other guests were relaxing having a drink taking in the views only to be mobbed by Chinese tourists standing in front, behind and all angles taking photos. They stayed for nearly one hour had one drink and left.
This was definitely not pleasing for your guests so please think about how you manage this in the future.
All in all this was the best four day stay that I have ever had in a hotel and I consider myself fairly well travelled.
If you want a to celebrate a special occasion I can’t think of a better hotel to spend it in.

Well done and thank you.

Wow - We love Sorrento it feels like home, albeit a more luxury version in the form of The Excelsior Vittoria. this year we barely ventured from the tranquil oasis of the perfumed gardens or the large swimming pool (heaven)
The hotel keeps high standards but maintains a friendly nothing is too much trouble approach of a first class hotel.
There were some welcome extras this year, free vouchers for The Fabulous Spa, which encouraged us in for the first time and lead to us booking more treatments (Ruthie the spa queen, said that the treatments were excellent compared to her vast experiance in this area)
There were also gifts from the team which made us feel loved (prosecco & marmalade).
The staff are great particularly the pool bar staff, room cleaners, dining waiters prrrrrr and concierge.
Management are approachable and visible, unsual in this day and age.
Saving up for next year already Ruthie, Vic and Jackie XXX

Room Tip: All rooms are good. If you win the lottery or are on honeymoon book the Carusso Or Pompei Suite.

I can't believe its taken me so long to write this review as this was such a memorable holiday. It was a surprise holiday for me, and as soon as we drove down the driveway surrounded with an avenue of trees I knew that this was going to be a fantastic stay. As soon as we got out of the car we were greeted with such warm welcome that I instantly relaxed. Beautiful hotel in its own grounds close enough to the hustle and bustle of Sorrento but still in its own pocket of tranquility.

The room was beautiful and had a wonderful sea view as the hotel was on the edge of a cliff, with Mount Vesuvius in the background, with a very large balcony where we took breakfast and watched the boats come in and out from the harbour below and watched the ferry go to Capri. The Bedroom was painted with a tromp l'oeil, the bed was huge and there was a large flat screen TV somewhere, but we were more interested in sitting out on balcony watching the world go by. The bathroom was all done in a lovely marble with a deep bath and a power shower.

The private pool was lovely it was set just a short walk down the driveway along side the Spa. The pool man was there like a shot making sure all of our towels were laid out moving the umbrella and making sure everything was okay. The food and the bar area was well kept and clean with attentive staff and the food was spot on.

The hotel itself had such history with Royalty from around Europe staying which I'm not surprised due to the standards and the beautiful architecture. We took the stairs many times just to admire how grand they were and admire the art.

The breakfast was amazing the food was hot fresh and never ending in a beautifully decorated ball room.

The wonderful experience of sitting out on the terrace watching the sun go down over the bay, with lights starting to twinkle off the boats on the sea, and being waited on so professionally by the most attentive staff, will be a memory that will keep forever.

I loved everything about Sorrento I can't wait to come back and hopefully stay in this wonderful hotel again.

It is hard to capture the beauty of the Excelsior Vittorio in a few words. It sits on 5 acres of beautiful and secluded grounds. While it is right in the heart of downtown, a long gated promenade separates the town (and noise) from the actual hotel entrance. The entry gate contains a barrier and a guard so that only guests and invitees (and select vehicles) can enter. The walk down the promenade is beautiful; full of flowers and benches in case you want to sit and enjoy the beautiful garden before or after a stroll downtown. The hotel itself sits on a beautiful cliff line at the edge of the sea. The rooms on the sea are well worth the extra price. We had a premium sea view room with a very large private terrace. The view of the sea and Mt. Vesuvius in the distance was gorgeous. Our room was very charming and I loved the antique desk and chest of drawers. Besides a king size bed, we had a great sitting area with 2 chairs, couch and table. In contrast with the antique furniture pieces, we had a new flat screen TV (although I must admit was little used due to the beauty of one's surroundings). The shower took a little getting used to, but, to me, was part of the charm of the hotel. The swimming pool area is also magnificent. This area is a very short walk from the hotel entrance and besides a great pool, there is a bar and separate cooking and outside eating area. All of this is nestled in an area full of orange and lemon trees (that were full of fruit when we were there last month). Adjacent to the pool area is a full service spa. While I did not go there, my wife reported that her facial and massage were excellent. Inside the main hotel, the public areas are all first class and spotless. There is a large and ornate banquet room (where a daily breakfast buffet is served), sitting rooms, beautiful outside terrace, downstairs dining areas, etc. many of which contain beautifully kept period furniture. Besides the beautiful physical features of the hotel and the grounds upon which it sits, I found the hotel staff to be one of the best I have ever encountered. I have had the privilege of staying in many fine hotels, (e.g., George V in Paris and others), so my expectations can run a little high. The tone and expectations at this hotel are clearly set at the top by the Hotel Mgr., Nicolino Grigio. The hotel is impeccably clean and the friendliness, courtesy and sincerity of all the staff, from top to bottom, was quite impressive. Besides Mr. Grigio, the Head Concierge Galano and his staff, Marco at the Front Desk, Danielle in Reservations, a seasoned waiter Salvatore, a housekeeper, Tina are some that I remember. However, that is not meant to take away from all the great service we had from others. With regard to food, there is a large breakfast buffet in the grand banquet room that has most anything you would want. While I usually avoid dinners in hotels, my wife and I had dinner one night in the lower dining area. The bottom line is that the food was excellent. We had already been to restaurants identified as the best in Sorrento and I was still favorably impressed. In the end, the ultimate compliment is whether or not you would return. Admittedly, at my age I am working hard on my personal "bucket list" of places to see and things to do. Yet, after 7 nights in Sorrento and at the Excelsior Vittorio, my wife and I feel a warm and strong connection with the area. I may be wrong, but I am almost sure that we will return to Sorrento and the Amalfi coast. One thing is for sure....if we do, you will find us at the Excelsior Vittorio and seeing the many friends we left behind there.

Room Tip: Stay on sea view side....worth the $.
