“Thank God! A Place to Sit”
Review of Mago del Gelo

Mago del Gelo

Amalfi is likely to be sunny, hot, and teeming with tourists during the summertime. What you want as the steamy heat overcomes you is a nice cold Granita di limone, that uniquely Italian, lemon-favoured, sugary, slushy, icey confection that cuts your thirst and restores your will to live. Then you want a nice shady place to sit and eat it. You can find Granite at lots of places, but nobody has a spot to sit – except Mago del gelo, Piazza Duomo, 27 were the granita is superb, the service is friendly, and (Grazie Dio!) there are a few shaded seats. Chat with the proprietor or your fellow tourists. As my wife said, "How have I lived so long without tasting this!" Enjoy yourself. It doesn't get any better.

This was the only place in Italy where we found the sfogliatelle cone with real gelato and it was really good! Good quality gelato as well but definitely get the sfogliatelle cone as it is so much better than a usual cone!

The kind guide at the Paper Factory told us about this great gelato place. It is almost hidden alongside the steps to the duomo, but we found it. Probably the best gelato we had in Italy, and we tried many, many places. Their service with a smile made it particularly nice.
