“Elegant restaurant by the sea shore with delicious foods”
Reviewed 10 October 2011

My favourite place in Amalfi. Although it looks outside as a simple beach restaurant, the menu, the waiters, the service and the amazing foods prove that you are in a perfect one. I did not make a reservation and could easily find a place. They first serve amuse bouche, and a special grissini, than a rich choice of warm round breads in a cloth basket which prevents the breads cooling down. They have a good wine list. Try their specialities. Especially the fish dishes as you are by the sea. A twenty meters only. It is my definite advise for an elegant dining when you are in Amalfi.

“Top quality food in a great setting”
Reviewed 5 October 2011

We called in for lunch whilst in Amalfi - good to eat in the sunshine looking out over the sea, but also when prices are most reasonable. We paid 22 euros each for the lunch taster menu, which consisted of portions of 4 dishes on one platter - not huge quantities but more than enough and excellent quality. Ours were rabbit ravioli, poached sea bass, sauteed potatoes with garlic and herbs, and an interesting mixed salad. Also included was a dessert - a small but beautiful chocolate and truffle ice cream. Wine pricey but good. Service excellent and friendly, even though the restaurant appears relatively formal. Could have sat under the canopy sipping wine and looking out into the bay all afternoon.

“Our favourite place in Amalfi”
Reviewed 14 September 2011

Amalfi itself does not have a huge number of good restaurants, especially on the seafront. We went to Marina Grande twice in four nights in Amalfi. The menu is split into two sections, with the old classics (spaghetti alla vongole etc.) hidden at the back. The main menu is more modern and inventive. Everything we ate was very good, as was the service. Unusually, the cocktails from the bar were quite well made. Little freebies like an amuse bouche, a pre-dessert sweet and interesting types of bread added to the experience. The terrace is a great place to see all the action of Amalfi. Highly recommended, and not as expensive as Eolo or Lido Azzuro.

“Good start,bad ending”
Reviewed 4 September 2011

Very impressive menu and service. Great food, decent prices for Amalfi. However around 10.30 pm we started to smoke our cigars in this open air restaurant and the waiter politely warned us to either put them out or to leave. This is a smoking restaurant btw. When asked why we cant smoke cigars he stated that there were babies around. Babies at an alcohol serving restaurant at 10.30pm? That was a very very bad ending to a great evening...

“Our favorite on coast!”
Reviewed 21 August 2011

Loved it! Marina grande & il Pino best in amalfi (marina by a hair). Because it is down on the water it is actually away from busy amalfi shopping/restaurant street. Started w cucumber gimlet drinks, so refreshing. We started with pasta (homemade rabbit ravioli that my husband loved). My daughter had the sea bass w green beans and tomato emulsion & loved it! My husband & I shared the halibut layered with parmesan, wonderful! As we were finishing our lovely desserts and dessert wine, the owner came over. I mentioned U2 and over an hour later with lots of shared U2 stories by both of us and seeing Gianpaolo's many pictures, he brought us a limoncello to end our fantastic evening. Loved everything about it. Gianpaolo, hope to see you at a u2 concert!!
