Tripoli is ideally located in a corner of the main Piazza Vittorio Veneto. There is a nice seating area outside, and although there's no table service, they do serve you quickly and efficiently. It's a very old, charming little establishment and as such the indoor bar area is very narrow. But that's rarely a problem as the service is always so quick. Plus it is packed full of all kinds of delights!
There are bottles of spirits everywhere, lots of Jack Daniels and quirky spirits that you'd rarely find anywhere else - for example they have a lovely, eclectic selection of gin. Then they have packets of pasta, biscuits, beautiful crockery for sale, espresso makers...
At the end of the bar there are cabinets full of all kinds of delicious treats. Sandwiches, chocolates, sweets, cornetti, cakes and my favourite: the brioche cornetto filled with cream and jam. Near the front they serve great gelato: the salted pistacchio is particularly good.
If you go there in the evening, the cocktails are fantastic. Their Aviation is particularly good.
BEST OF ALL: caffe con la crema di nocciola! It is exquisite. I order it every time I go there. It's coffee (well, Italian style coffee so espresso) with a generous helping of hazelnut cream. Liquid heaven!
Special mention: their affogato is so good. Espresso with a dollop of hazelnut icecream. Yum.
