I visited Valencia during the last week of April 2012 and stayed at the Hotel Expo. The hotel has a good connection of buses and metro to the centre but for those who would like to walk it's a bit too far from the main attractions to do so. Next door there' s a shopping complex with restaurants which is quite a must for the evenings!
To tell the truth the façade and the main entrance hall of the hotel gives you a better impression of the place because when we arrived in the room we found a small old wardrobe and a small desk. There's not much place to put your things into and not even a safe in the room. I had to lock my belongings in the suitcase every time I went in and out of the room. The thing that bothered me most is the stench smell when you get in the room every single day. The room has a bad odour of still air; I don' t think maids open the windows for fresh air while they are cleaning.
Breakfast is very good and varies a bit of everything. There was a table with delicious cakes everyday too. Food was fresh and included fresh grilled vegetables, fresh fruits, different types of sausages and eggs. They also have a caponata pie to die for! Juices are genuine and good and coffee machines make delicious coffees.
Front office receptionists are nice and most of them speak fluent english. They are also very helpful if you need information about bus numbers and stops. Maids clean well and leave rooms tidy but not all of them replace the necessities you might have used from the bathroom.
Wi-fi is available in the hotel though you have to ask the front desk for the password which is only valid for 24 hours. There is a television set in the room but most of the channels are all in Spanish. There are only two Italian channels which I used to watch during some intervals of the day but which unfortunately were always cut off in the evenings!
On the whole it' s a basic hotel which is enough for those who only need a place to rest and sleep. As I said before it has a good connection of transport to anywhere too but for those who look for frills in the interior of the hotel I sincerely tell you not to be misled by the photos the hotel put on the internet!
