I stayed here with my fiancee and her parents over the space of two weeks and what a wonderful two weeks they were.
This apartment is owned by Gill and Andy, who lives above. They are very discreet, and seem to be invisible unless you wish to talk to them. They both constantly remained in contact with us and informed us of anything we needed to know, before arrival and during the 2 weeks. They are very welcoming and provide a really nice atmosphere for the place. A chat with them during a lovely hot afternoon was delightful, and they are so kind. We definitely had a great laugh with them.
The apartment has two rooms with two single beds and air conditioning (which was great since arrival hit a whopping 34 degrees) , a bathroom and shower, a small furnished kitchen and a table and sofa to sit on and enjoy TV. For us, the TV was tuned to English networks which was very helpful and enjoyable. The shower was very powerful and was lovely to use, especially after a nice swim. Outside has a shower, which is recommended to be used before and after going in the pool. The pool is quite large and sits at a lovely temperature and is thoroughly enjoyable. The sun loungers were very comfortable and lovely for relaxing in the afternoon, and there are two large shades which can be opened and closed. There is also a large dining table to use if you wish to eat outside, and a back porch area with another table and a barbecue set, although we didn't use this section as the front was good enough. The only downside for me personally, is that there wasn't many sockets available. There was a socket in the main bedroom, one at the front by the TV and one or two in the kitchen which is used for kitchen appliances. If you are one to bring different electronic items, such as phones and tablets, I recommend you bringing along a multi USB charger. This proved very helpful for us.
The location of this apartment was great if you wanted to have a wonder around. There are two large supermarkets nearby for groceries, no longer than a 5-10 minute walk, which was very convenient. The walk to the beach area is about 20 minutes, and the beach side is incredibly large and full of shops and restaurants/bars, with loads of different options to eat. The beach is usually very crowded so we stayed away from there, but if you enjoy the beach side, I'd definitely recommend having a walk along there. Make sure you take comfortable shoes, otherwise the walking can become painful because the floor tiles are all patterned and hard to walk on. You can also visit the Old Town, which is a bit further away but has some nice restaurants and the location itself is lovely. In the opposite direction, and heading up the hill is a large bar/pub restaurant place, and an all you can eat Japanese buffet which I highly recommend. Just be careful when walking home if you are out at night, as there aren't any lights along the side streets. Gill and Andy can give very clear directions to any of these places.
Overall, the stay was really nice, suited with a superb apartment and there is a lot to see in the area. You could not possibly get better hosts and it felt like you were visiting long term friends.
We booked earlier this year and from finding this little corner in Calpe it's has been first class contact from Gill and Andy up too and arriving at the villa.
You stay in a lovely 2 bedroom ground floor part of the villa and Gill and Andy live above they have a great skill of being there without being there if you know what I mean.
There both have a vast knowledge of the area and what's good and not so good and nothing was too much trouble.
It felt like a home from home and was so very relaxing and was surprised to have air con in both bedrooms which was a god send in 34c heat and that was in the pool.
We would recommend this too four adults it is close too the beach and lots of lovely walks bars and places to eat.
We will be back next year that's for sure thanks Gill and Andy for a lovely holiday.
Just returned from a 12 day holiday at this lovely apartment. We had a fantastically relaxing stay. The lovely owners who live above (and who you don't know are there as they are so discreet) were ever so helpful in giving us loads of advice and tips on places to go or restaurants to eat. The apartment had everthing we needed and we especially enjoyed the air conditioning! The pool itself was a wonderful 32 degrees, with plenty of sun loungers, a garden swinging chair and 2 separate areas for tables and chairs set up with parasols. It was perfect for my 2 teenagers as there was also an outside shower which they enjoyed using. We could even swim with it beautifully lit up at night. No need for a car as you can walk to the fully stocked large supermarket (about 5 mins away) and the fine sandy beach is also about 5 mins too where there are loads of cafes and restaurants dotted along the front. You can also easily catch a bus from the nearby bus stop (3 mins walk) if you fancy looking at the old town itself.
We had an amazing week in Calpe. Gill and Andy were the perfect hosts and made it feel as we had their place for ourselves. Our daughters especially loved the pool and wants us to come back next year.
