“Not bad for the price”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 April 2012

My first time in Benidorm.

Good location in the lively part of Benidorm. Bars in every direction out of the hotel including all the places that have several acts on every night. Drinks are generally much cheaper than the UK although pricier in places where there is entertainment on, which is to be expected. Downside of this is you must expect some noise at night from the surrounding bars. That said I didn't find it too bad with the doors fully closed and with earplugs in I got a decent sleep. Would have been a problem if had to sleep with doors open for the cool and no earplugs, so go prepared! There is a comedy club in the basement of the hotel with several cabaret and tribute acts on each night with no entry fee.

Was about a 5 or 6 minute walk to the lovely promenade. Beach very good, excellent sand and cleaned every night. Sunbeds 4 Euros a pop. About a 15 or 20 minute walk to the old town, also nice and a lot more relaxed and laid back with plenty of bars and also some genuine Spanish tapas places. Whilst there is a lot of brits here and other nationalities there remains a lot of Spanish people too, either on holiday or who live here. The place caters for the young but also the old with a preponderence of those scooter things going up and down the prom. Whilst some were used for the genuinely disabled/infirm/frail etc a lot also seem to be hired by the lazy, the fat and in some cases hired 'for a laugh'. Guess that's Benidorm for you!

Pool in the hotel is indoors in the cooler months and in the warmer months the roof is retracted to make outdoors. Plenty of sunbeds although the cheap nasty ones that don't adjust at all. There were some upright chairs that could be reclined which I found preferable.

Only three lifts which get very popular at meal times etc so is often better just to walk. And don't hang about as the doors close quick!

Room was very clean and adequate for the price. Good shower and spacious bathroom. Good spacious balcony. Beds ok. TV with a few English channels. Plenty of cupboard space and hangers etc. No main light in the bedroom just various side lights so if you really want to see yourself in the mirror was better to use the bathroom which was very well lit.

The food was just about passable but no great shakes. Normal breakfast fayre but with greasy and fatty bacon and fried eggs that were almost always overcooked. Good toast machines. Can't comment on lunch. Dinner had a choice of generally two meat dishes, one fish dish and then pizza and pasta as extras. I thought the main courses were quite good overall. The mash was gloopy but other potato items good. Veg was a bit hit and miss. A daily changing soup was ok. Salad bar pretty good. A range of changing desserts weren't too bad. Bit of minor queuing at times but never any great delay. Service and clearing of tables was quick and efficient.

Another tip is that there are many places offering excellent rates of exchange, better than those available in the UK, and commission free. Ok it's not mega bucks by any means but if you don't get chance to take the Euro's with you you will have no trouble getting a good rate in the town.

Overall then not a bad place for the price paid which I think was about £110 per person for 4 nights half board including the airport transfers. This was in April 2012 and some other months will no doubt be pricier. I would definately return to Benidorm as I'd like to get out and see the surrounding area more. I wouldn't necessarily rush back to this hotel but only because there are so many other places to try and you could certainly do a lot worse I am sure.

This was our second time at this hotel, would say it was better last year.We were on the seventh floor with a pool view last year even though we didn't ask for a pool view,so we asked for the same this year and got the sixth floor and no pool view, the rooms with no pool view are dark and dismal we didn't use the balcony at all.Would also say the food is not as good. The entertainment in hotel is excellent,as is location. We planning another hotel for next year

Room Tip: "Rooms overlooking pool are nicer"

Stayed at this hotel on 4th April for a couple of nights. Arrived at 1pm, told room was not available as it was stil being cleaned. There were lots of people all checking in at the same time who did not have this problem and were getting the keys to their room. Spoke to receptionist and asked if there were any other rooms available, to which we were told 'no'. Not allowing it to spoil our holiday, we went the restaurant for lunch and when we were finished, our room was ready.

We were very lucky to have been allocated a pool view room. First thing that struck us about the room as we opened the door was the clean smell. The cleaners had done a great job of cleaning the room as it was absolutely spotless. It was more than suitable for us to use as a base. No complaints. You have to get the remote for the TV from reception and if you want to borrow their iron there is a deposit of 10 euros, which is returned to you.

We booked on a full board basis. Restaurant staff were nice enough, one waitor by the name of Fernando gave excellent service and a warm welcome. The food wasn't the best but it was adequate enough, cooked well and hot.

Good idea to have the pool covered. Plenty of sunbeds and space around the pool.

The location of the hotel is brilliant. Central for all of the bars including Sandra's Cabaret Bar (where you can see the singer Asa Elliott from the show, Benidorm), The Red Lion Bar and Morgan's Tavern (Neptune's Bar in Benidorm show - Crissy Rock was performing there). Also short walk from the beach, location wise, you really can't go wrong.

The only thing that I was disappointed at was that we had a night flight home, so we booked a late check out room until 6pm. However, we were only allowed breakfast on our last day, no lunch and no evening meal. This was the first time I had ever come accross this, as I have been on many holidays and I have always been allowed food on the last day. So warning if you have a night flight, bring money with you to be able to eat on your last day!

Generally, yes I'd stay here again, but it would be more the location that would draw me in, rather than the hotel itself.

Room Tip: Ask for a pool view. I would imagine, due to the good location that the street facing rooms might b...

We stayed there for a short break before Easter. The hotel was very clean, staff were friendly and spoke English. The food was nice and restaurant staff very helpful. Fernando the waiter had a great sense of humour. The entertainment in the bar and comedy club was good quality and something for most tastes. We saw adele, and rod tributes, plus crissy rocks. Rooms were clean, fine fit three people. The pool area is nice but whilst the pool was covered over the water was cold. Will definatley go back again.
