We booked this hotel for my son's 21st birthday, we booked 4 rooms. We have been to Madrid several times we absolutely love this city and we have stayed in many hotels. I would certainly recommend this hotel it would be one of the best I have stayed in for quality and value. The hotel room was excellent. beautifully decorated and a fine size, all the rooms we had were the same. The location was excellent about 2 minutes from Sol and 5 minutes from Plaza Mayor. I would definitely return to this hotel again.

We booked at relatively short notice after our original hotel choice became unexpectedly unavailable - despite that we were still able to get a good rate on the Eurostar hotels own website. Direct bookings on the website also get you included breakfast, complementary mini-bar and late check-out.

Location was perfect, right in the middle of the city and within easy walking distance (< 25 minutes) of everything we wanted to see (including Plaza Mayor and the Prado, Thyssen and Reina Sofia galleries, as well as being handy for the Atocha station and the Retiro park).

Our room on the 5th floor of the "A" block was exactly as advertised, modern, very clean and comfortable with a very nice king size bed as specified. Minibar contents included several cans of soft drink., water and some cans of beer. We also had a bottle of very reasonably priced Cava sent up to the room. Large screen TV with (limited) English language channels and functional free wifi (which only required registration once during our 5-night stay). We were pleasantly surprised how quiet it was at night, even with our window open. I'd expected it to be noisy given the central location, but we were only minimally aware of outside noise. The a/c seemed to only be on heat (usual set up for Spanish hotels in the winter). As we like a cool temperature, we opened the windows to the extent possible and brought a small portable fan with us.

Breakfasts were very good, fairly limited selection but good quality and the coffee was excellent. Even the scrambled egg and bacon was good - a surprise in a continental European hotel!

The hotel was thoroughly modern. Rom was on third floor facing an internal courtyard. Very quiet and conducive to resting to shake jet-lag. The room was well appointed and clean. Bathroom was spacious and very clean. Bathroom amenities were excellent and towels were soft and fluffy. The breakfast buffet on the 7th floor (€10 pp extra) was excellent and well worth the price. There was a great bakery cafe across the street from the hotel as an option that we used the first morning of our stay. Staff were courteous and very efficient, seeming anxious to help any way they could.
The hotel was in a great location within a 10 minute walk of Plaza Mayor, a great people place with a large number of restaurants and bars with both indoor and outdoor (heated) seating options. "Tourist" pricing was in effect we had a nice dinner on consecutive nights with drinks for about €40. Five minutes beyond Plaza Mayor was the Mercado San Miguel, an amazing indoor market that had many options for tapas dining in the market. Crowded on weekends, but worth going to. Hotel was about a 15 minute walk to both the Royal Palace and Puerto del Sol. We also walked down to the Prado and Thyssen museums from the hotel in about 25 minutes (downhill!). Many other dining and drinking options were also available in squares within a short distance of the hotel.
All in all a great hotel, in a great location. We would definitely stay there again!

Room tip: Get a courtyard facing room for maximum quietness.

great location! that's its biggest asset.. comfortable, very clean, the price is ok for a 4 stars. Not too much to say, it doesn't excel but it doesn't dissapoint either. I got a bit of an attitude by the girl on the counter but I can slip that by. The location by the sol plaza makes up for it

Room tip: the higher the floor, the better

After booking the hotel some months in advance I read reviews prior to visiting and was concerned about some of the comments regarding the hotel being unsafe and in a bad location.. however on arrival I was immediately reassured and found the comments I read to be unfounded!

The hotel is really easy to get too and practically by a metro stop, which was useful (although we chose to explore Madrid by foot - in the rain!!!) As Madrid is a pretty compact city the hotel is within close walking distance off the Royal Palace and Plaza Mayor. We also walked to Sol, the Prado, Botanical Gardens and Parque de El Retiro (which is well worth a visit as is such a stunning park!)

Our room was quite compact, but perfect for a base for exploring Madrid (there is however no tea and coffee making facility which would be my only complaint as a tea lover) We didn't have breakfast at the hotel, but at a cute little cafe opposite where a morning pastry and coffee was only a couple of Euros!

Definitely an ideal hotel for exploring Madrid, and if I were to visit again this would be my hotel of choice!
