“Great, central location”
Reviewed 21 June 2012

We spent 4 nights at Hotel Regina during our first stay in Madrid.

The hotel has been superbly refirbushed - a very clean, modern and trendy hotel on the inside with the contrast of the old facade along the beautiful streetscape. Hotel Regina is located just up from Sol - one of Madrid's main plazas, train stations and meeting places.

It is so close to endless shops, cafes, bars, restaurants, metro stations and is only a pleasant 15 to 20 minute walk away from the city's major museums and art galleries.

We enjoyed a breakfast in both the bar and restaurant - both were outstanding. Most afternoons we also had a small tapas and beer/wine/champagne in a very relaxing environment.

Our room faced out towards a rear 'lane way' - a nice quiet street. Other than the normal noise you'd expect in a big city, the hotel was very quiet.

A fantastic hotel, with fantastic service. Highly recommended!

Room Tip: The rear lane way may be a little quieter than the street facing rooms.

My two adult children and I just returned from a 3 week trip through Spain, France and Italy. We stayed at five hotels and travelled by Eurail in between locations. Our first hotel, Hotel Regina, was perfect. Although it's a 3 Star property, it feels like a 4 Star. The lobby is lovely, staff are professional and friendly, breakfast was the wonderful (better than any that we had at any other hotel, including a 4 Star property in Florence), room and bathroom were clean and comfortable. And the location was right in the center of Madrid! If you're travelling there.....book this hotel!

We have just come back from a girlie weekend away but for a special occasion. We are in our 40's and like a good hotel. This hotel is faultless. May not be top end price but you get top end service, food and rooms. Clean towels every day, cleaan bed linen every day. Reception cleaned evry day. Breakfast caters for everyone. Free wifi throught, safes are safer than safe, you use your own credit card to open and lock, not a room key. Clever! Prices very reasonable in cafe and restaurant. Very central. Have just looked at the MeMelia in plaza de Santa Anna which looked fab whilst we were there but for the price, value, serive etc etc, i would stay again at the Regina. MeMelia you are paying to stay in the square, thier fashion shops in the hotel and roof terrace, but looking back i would say MeMelia would hear a lot of noise from outside. There is also a club next door which obviously would case noise, and by looking at their site, the standard rooms are no different to The Regina. Would definitely stay again any time. We had massive twin beds, reasonable price mini bar(fridge for your water too!). Plenty of plug points even in bathroom. Large wardrobe, double basin marble bathroom. Staff extremelynhelpful and do not just stand and wit for a tip, they just do their job (but we did tip as they were so good). Their own Restaurant Amyra is lovely. Right near the metro (no noise). Directly opposite the lanes that lead to Plaza de Santa Ana. Everything is within walking distance. I could go on and on but if u want ask any questions plase do.

Room Tip: Rooms inside no view but no noise. Balcony rooms you will get traffic noise. We had inside rooms on...

This being my second trip to Madrid, I was pretty picky about finding the right hotel, and we struck gold with the Hotel Regina. The location could not be better (a fast walk to the Puerta del Sol, the Plaza Mayor and the Grand Vie) and you could easily walk to most of the major attractions in historial Madrid. Upon our arrival, we were greeted with a refreshing beverage and our room (a standard) was surprisingly luxurious. We had a terrace facing the front of the hotel and while noise can sometimes be an issue, the front rooms were outfitting with heavy screens that we could raise and lower at will (muffling the street noise and lights to ensure a peaceful nights sleep).

The staff was what made our stay such a pleasure. Any issues or questions that we had were quickly addressed by a knowledgeable staff (many of which speak fluent English), and the provided services (such as free wifi in the rooms and helping to arrange for transfers to the airport, and even the rental of an Ipad) made our stay an absolute pleasure. I would happily stay at this hotel again and recommend it highly.

Room Tip: If you're really, really sensative to noise, request a room at the back of the hotel (away from...

The hotel was architecturally beautiful. Furthermore the staff were very helpful and pleasant to make our stay comforatble and enjoyable. The breakfast was very sumptuos and everything about the hotel, the staff, the amenities and our stay leave us with a wonderful memory of Madrid. We stayed in a superior room with a balcony. This balcony was very useful as it meant we could relax at the end of a day with a glass of wine before going out again for our evening meal. It also added an additional feel that the hotel was a "home" rather than just a hotel room. The room was at the back of the hotel with a view of the offices beghind, whihc meant that the room was very quiet, with no noise that other people mentioned. in fact I would think that the hotel was far enough away from the main street so as not to cause any problems. The hotel is in the perfect position in my opinion. It is far enough away from the hustle of Sol, but close enough to allow you to walk to all the main areas, especiall well split between the 3 main eating/drinking areas of Placa Sta Anna (our favourite), Cava Baja & Placa Major, Malapensa/Chueca. Madrid is a fairly compact city and all the major sites are within walking distance. It is also a wonderful city with a great mixture of architecture, attractions, culture, shopping and exceedingly friendly. I recommend as a great cuty break and Hotel Regina as the ideal hotel.

Room Tip: chose a superior room or 1 with a roof terrace
