“Great Location”
Reviewed 24 June 2012

Stayed here whilst in Madrid for business.
Negatives first: Checking into the hotel was just ok - I had a few issues with staff not understanding my English! I got one of the new room which was lovely. However, I had to go back to reception to collect my wi-fi password which wasn't given to me on check in. Turns out wifi doesn't work in the new part of the hotel so after a visit from an engineer I was moved to another room. My second room was in the old part of the hotel - this all took about 40 mins. The room was fine, but not anywhere as nice as the other one - so always ask to stay in the new part. One issue in my second room was that the toilet was making lots of noise - constantly filling up with water, but I couldn't be bothered to move again so I didn't say anything. I also had to wait for over 10 minutes to get seated for breakfast which is not ideal when you are on business and need to get in and our in a hurry.
Location is great with a department store right next door and a huge Zara a few doors down. The hotel is right on one of the main streets in Madrid so you will be well placed to find your way around the city. The rooms are huge with great big comfy beds.

Room Tip: Ask to stay in the new part of the hotel

This hotel is in a great location. There is a lot a shopping in the area. A very large Department Store is located right next door to the hotel. Rooms were very spacious and clean. Hotel did not offer Free WiFi though. They wanted 8.50 Euros per day for access.

Street around the hotel can be noisy on Staurday nights with party animals, but the hotel has double paned windows that almost block that out.

A short walk to some things of interest and the metro.

Lovely hotel. Nice spacious clean room. Staff at reception were very friendly and put us on top floor of 14 will led to lovely views. Good metro service nearby if needed.

I stayed at this hotel 26th - 29th May 2012 with my eldest son and we had a fantastic time. We booked two rooms expecting quite small ones for single occupancy but they were superb, spacious and luxurious room which they still classes as 'standard'! Rooms 661 and 663 (ask for rooms in the newly refurbished part) The rooms are the most spacious I've ever stayed in. The bathrooms were marble with top quality fittings, toiletries and thick white towels. The main bedrooms both had seating areas, my son in 663 had a corner lounge sofa! Both had excellent tv, coffee making facilites and the biggest single beds I've ever slept in.
The reception in the hotel was spotlessly clean (as was all the hotel) with friendly staff and elegant fixtures. Although we didn't eat at the hotel the bars, cafe and restaurant looked just as high quality. There are so many excellent restaurants and bars nearby you have to try them out.
My son used the gym which is well equipped and found it to be really good, although we didn't use the pool there were a few people in it with children who seemed to be having a great time.
The hotel is next to Arguelles metro station (across a road), has a 'Starbucks' a couple of shops away if you can't do without it! and a huge department store with pharmacy, supermarket and 5 floors of clothes and household shopping joining the hotel (el Corte Ingles). I found it an enjoyable 10 minute walk to the centre of Madrid or 5mins to Park Ouest. It took us about 20 mins on the metro from the airport with one change and cost 4.50 euro each single.
As we were there for 4 days we bought a 3 day metro pass for 17 euro's zone A which covered everywhere we wanted to visit and well worth the money.
Madrid is great to walk around and you can see more by walking but the metro is quick and easy and the trains are new.
I would recommend rowing a boat on the lake at Park Retiro, The sunday flea market at El Rastro, the Palace which is stunning and strolling around Chueca. Opera has a great atmosphere for meals out at night. You can see most of the centre in a couple of days and if you enjoy walking you'll see even more. We also took a ride on the telerifique cable cars.
I would recommend this hotel without question and hope you like it too.

Room Tip: We had two rooms 661 and 663 in the newly refurbished block and they were absolutely perfect. Good v...

Our group of students was placed in a noisy, under construction part of the hotel, with no wifi, no phone service and no fridge access. The staff was so busy, they could not have cared less.
The hotel is a great location, but not worth the money charged.
