Nice hotel in Madrid with a great view of the palace. Clean rooms and friendly staff.

We had a wonderful time at the Aparto Suite Jardines de Sabatini. The rooms were very nice and the roof deck was amazing. Location was great (worth 4 stars) and the cleanliness was up to par. Most of the staff was very accommodating (with the exception of one)

This hotel would have easily gained a 4 star rating from us if it were not for the one front desk employee that gave us trouble. I will not bore you with the details, but essentially they told us not to hail a cab on the street and instead called one for us, which ended up costing us twice as much as if we would had hailed a cab. When we brought this to her attention upon our return, she got very defensive and rude. Very disappointing.

Room Tip: The higher the better.

When we first arrived there was a mix up with our room, we were suppose to be on the 4th floor with a balcony. I had paid extra for a balcony and as I can't go in a lift I didn't want to walk up too many stairs especially in the heat. We were booked into a room on the 3rd floor with no balcony, yet they said I would have to pay the same price. They didn't have any rooms on the 4th floor and I ended up with one on the 5th, not ideal, especially when you had been out walking for a while a climb up stairs was the last thing I needed.

After that everything was fine, the room was lovely and kitchen area great. Although the bed was a bit hard for my liking, I put a spare duvet on top of the mattress to soften it a bit. This is a general problem, most hotels have firm mattresses. Both my husband and I have food intolerances, so we liked the fact that we could buy our own food and cook a meal, as although Spain is getting much better with labelling gluten free stuff in the shops it is more difficult eating out.

The road outside the hotel is very busy all night, but the double glazing is excellent and kept the noise at bay. The rooms air con was lovely too and kept the room nice and cool as it was quite hot the weekend we went.

The remaining staff were great and the room was lovely. Lots of things were in walking distance, the palace opposite the hotel, art museum and several parks. I would go there again.

Dear pendeltonPeck,

Thank you for your feedback.

We are glad to see that you had a good stay with us. Specially thank you for your comments about the comfort in the room. The quality of your sleep is one of our highest priorities so we have invested in consistent noise isolation and temperature choice .

I would like to apologise on behalf of the front desk for the mix up with your room. The reason why this happened is that we received your booking as a “Studio with views” and we got your request for a low floor, unfortunately our rooms with views are only on the higher floors.

Once again thank you for your kind comments, we look forward to welcoming you in the future.

Kind regards,

We spent 4 nights in this hotel, and we came back really happy with our choice: the staff, the room and the location were all really amazing.

THE LOCATION: Before going we were scared that it wouldn't be close enough to the city center, but how wrong we were! Without being in the center of Madrid, it's a walking distance from it: the Royal Palace is in a less than five minutes walk, and so is the Almudena cathedral. The center of the city (Puerta del Sol, calle Mayor, Plaza Mayor), are within a 10 minutes walk, perfectly afordable without having to take any kind of public transport. Both the Gran Via and the Plaza España (this last one with a metro station) are a few minutes walk distance from the hotel also, providing access to a lot of restaurants, teathers and shops. Also close to the hotel there's a pretty big shopping Mall (Principi Pio) which also has a train and metro station.

THE ROOM: We had a room on the 7th floor, and the view was really amazing! The room had a living room with a kitchen, a bedroom and a bathroom with a pretty big tub. It also had a balcony with a table and two chairs. We didn't really use the kitchen to cook, but it was very useful to have glasses and dishes if we wanted to drink or have a snack. The kitchen cabinets are locked, so if you want to use the kitchen stuff, they make you leave a 10 euros diposit the first day in exchange of the key, which they return to you at the moment of your check out. The room was very clean, the only upside down is that usually it was cleaned around 2pm and 3pm, so a lot of times we felt like taking a little break from walking when it was also hotter outside and we had to wait to get inside. We never had a single problem with the free wifi, it always worked. The A/C works well, too. Even if the street is pretty busy, we never had problems to sleep as it was always pretty quiet at night.

THE STAFF: Every single one of the employers at the reception desk was really nice and helpful. They always had a smile on their face. They recommended us a restaurant to eat when we asked for it, and both the check in and check out were fast and smooth.

PARKING: The parking is not owned by the hotel, but it's just next to it, but if you are a client of the hotel you get a discount in it. The upside down of the parking is that is not connected with the hotel from the inside: there's a pretty huge ramp you have to walk up, which is not really comfortable to do if you carry heavy bags.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view, on the 6th or 7th floor.

Talk about service. Even before we checked in, we were allowed to keep our large suitcases in storage as we travelled on to Granada for two nights. Coming from great lodging in Granada, it was great to stay in an equally comfortable apartment suite in Madrid. Room 35 had ample space for my husband, myself and our teenage son to move around. The bathroom/toilet was outside the bedroom which my husband and I occupied. It was easily accessed by our son who stayed in the sofa-bed. The room faced the Royal Palace and was basked in morning sunlight.

This hotel is a comfortable walk from the tourist area and two metro stations - Principe Pio and Opera. If you are coming from the airport or train station and taking the metro, the walk from Principe Pio might be difficult if you are maneuvering 20 kilos of luggage on an incline.

Room Tip: For sunlight loving folks like me, ask for a suite facing the Royal Palace.

Dear VivienTO,

Thank you very much for your kind comments.

We always do our best to let early arriving guest into the rooms as long as they are available. Unfortunately this is not always possible, especially in very busy dates. For these cases we let the guests deposit their luggage so they can go out and make the most of their trip.

Thank you for bringing up the incline you found coming from Principe Pio. For future stays, in case you come by Metro, alighting at Plaza de España might be a better option, since it´s equally distant from the hotel but it´s a descent. This will not apply in case you are travelling by train from T4 because trains stop only at Principe Pio station.

Thank you one more time, guest feedback is a vital source of information for us.
