“Great place to stay”
Reviewed 14 June 2012 via mobile

My husband and I stayed here for one night. Even though we got in very early, the room was already ready. We were given a map of places to see and some food suggestions as well. It might be difficult to speak with the woman who owns the hospedaje if you don't know Spanish but I think it would be worth it to try. She is very nice and the hostel is right in the heart of everything so you can easily walk everywhere. We found it to be very clean and wifi was pretty consistent. I highly recommend staying here!

Great location and unique accommodation on Madrid's main street. Raoul and his mother were great hosts and very helpful although she speaks very limited English. A walk to all main tourist attractions or use the hop-on bus or convenient metro. Trip to and from airport is 5 euros by airport express bus or 4.5 euros by metro. 60 euros/night included twin beds and private washroom with shower. No breakfast but restaurant next door serves a very good English breakfast for 4.5 euros with fresh squeezed orange juice, Excellent accommodation for the price,
Free WiFi with their computer..

Room Tip: All rooms seemed very nice

I spent two nights in Madrid recently and was pretty happy with the hotel. Rooms were clean, never had to wait to use the shared bathroom, and had access to a computer. I really like the Gran Via area, plus a lot of the buildings and parks are a short walk away. The only issue for me was that the entrance was easy to miss, so I used the red "Avis" sign a few doors away as a landmark. Also, having at least a medium level of spanish would probably be helpful, but not required.

My family of 4 stayed at Hospedaje Romero for 4 nights. We liked the ambiance of the place and the location is near 2 metro stations, tapas restaurants and stores. We could also take the Hop-On-Hop-Off Bus right on the street where the hostel was. The rooms of our kids were bigger than our room but they were clean and the owners were very helpful. Raul gave us a map of Madrid and showed us where to go to visit the top attractions.

Room Tip: Rooms with 2 single beds are bigger than the one with one double bed. The hostel is on the 6th floo...

I stayed here for 4 days in January 2012. Great location for visiting Madrid. The hotel is spotless. Wifi worked well. For my first couple of nights I had the single room without a toilet/shower. This was no problem at all. The shared bathroom facilities were always clean, and because there are only a few rooms (and most have en suite bathrooms) I never had to wait for to use the bathroom. For my last nights at the Hospedaje I stayed in an en suite double room. Again, the room was spotless.
For the price, I don't think you can do better in downtown Madrid. Highly recommended.
