“Great location to visit Madrid”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 February 2012

This hotel is ideally place to visit Madrid, we had a lovely stay and would recommend the hotel, a minor issue would be the lack of English tv stations so would recommend taking some DVD's for the free laptop. Would definitely stop again

We used this hotel as a one-night stop in Madrid. Location was very good, right next to the exit of the metro line 10 (Alonso Martinez). Easy connection to the airport by metro via line 10 to Nuevos Ministerios where you change on line 8 to the airport.

Hotel itself looks very bright and clear. Modern rooms with all what you need. Even a laptop on the room. Free wifi. Large bathroom.

Room Tip: There is a family room for 4 people, all having 'real' beds (not a sofa turned into a bed)

My husand and I stayed at Petit Palace Santa Barbara in November 2011 (sorry for the late review) and enjoyed our stay. The hotel is clean and walking distance to Gran Via and Puerta del Sol. Also, the metro/train is within walking distance which is a plus for exploring the wonderful sites of Madrid. We also loved the Patisserie located a few doors down, called Avenue Paris. Emmanuelle is very kind and the cafe and pastries so delicious- try it if you visit there. There are restaurants close by, a jazz club and little markets if you need to buy drinks, fruit or snacks.
I only have one very, very little complaint... The shower is wonderful (massage style), but it leaks water onto the bathroom floor making a bit of mess. Also, we stayed there for almost a week and I am not sure if the bedding was changed daily, it should be change at least every other day and the toiletries replenished (I take advantage of the soaps and shampoo due to the airline restrictions). However, when I did ask for more toiletries, the attentive staff was very helpful to provide more. Thank you!
All in all the hotel was wonderful, staff great and attentive. Thanks for the daily apples! We would stay here again and recommend this hotel.

Dear Guests,
Thank you so much for your comments, we are very happy that you enjoyed your stay in our hotel.
We are very sorry about the water leaks from the bathroom, in some rooms we have found this to be a problem due to the level of the shower plate, we are however working on this problem and hope to have found a solution soon.
I am extreemly sorry that your bedding was not changed. Effectively, it must be changed every two days. I will be speaking to the cleaning department about this.
Hope to see you again soon!
Best regards,
Rebecca Evans

We enjoyed 2 nights at the Petit Palace Santa Barbara. The decor is very funky and fun, and the service was very good. The breakfast that was included in our room price was also excellent - good buffet with plenty of choices. Although this hotel is not in a main tourist area, it is very close (2 mins) from Alonso Martinez metro station from which you can get anywhere quickly and cheaply on the efficient Madrid metro. It is also walking distance (10 mins) from Chueca area which has great boutique shopping (lots of excellent shoe shops). I would definitely return if we visited Madrid again and would recommend to others.

The good: nice staff, great location, pretty exterior, nice. modern decor, free wifi, free computer with ethernet in room. Metro station is right there, easy connection from the airport. Take metro at airport to Ministerios, transfer then to 10 and get off at second stop (Alonso Martinez) which is where hotel is at. Great place to eat/drink is Gran Cafe Santander, kitty corner from the hotel, another great old fashioned Madrid bar is El Barrio which is one block away. Ask for interior room and it is very quiet. Must ask for nonsmoking room if you want one.
The bad: the bathroom smelled really bad, like sewage. Told the maid and she sprayed aerosol which did not help. Told front desk and they said they would take care of it but did not. Had to keep bathroom door closed, it was really awful, too bad for a new, supposedly 4 star hotel. Maybe not all rooms are like this but ours (419) was. The bed was extremely hard. With all the hotels in Madrid (we go to Madrid every 2 years or so to visit family) I would NOT stay here again.

Room Tip: Get interior, nonsmoking with no bathroom stink as in our room it was overwhelming.

Dear Guests,
I would firstly like to thank you for taking the time to write about us on Tripadvisor.
I am glad you enjoyed most aspects of the hotel, room and services we provide.
Regarding the bad smell in the bathroom, please accept our appologies for this. We have recently detected a problem with plumbing instalation, and effectively, some rooms have had a bad smell in the bathroom.
The good new is, that we are currently revising every room in the hotel and correcting this problem, to make sure that all the rooms are in perfect conditions.
I am very sorry that this affected your stay, and we would be more than willing to offer you a discount on the invoice you paid on your check out as compensation. Please contact me direclty if you would like to organise this (dtorsba@hthoteles.com).
Best regards,
