If you are looking for a simple, clean place to sleep that is well-managed and located centrally in the northern part of Chueca, this is an excellent choice. I understand why some reviewers are not entirely happy with this hostal: the rooms are simple affairs, with wooden floors, simple beds (that are a little rocky), for most of the rooms the toilets are in the hallways, it's bare-bones. But everything was spotless, our rooms were made up carefully each day, and at least in Room 2 there was plenty of light and French windows overlooking the street scene but with windows that shut out most of the noise. Plus it's a short walk into the bar of Chueca. A great deal I thought, given the excellent online rate we got.

Room Tip: We liked Room 2, which doesn't have a toilet but has lots of light and French windows overlooking the street.

Rooms on 3rd floor so need to be fit! Very nice lady looking after the hotel - polite and helpful. Hotel very quiet and in a very central location for most Madrid attractions - we were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go. As you would expect with a cheap hotel it had very basic facilities but room had a TV and en-suite bathroom with plenty of hot water. Recommended for a budget stay.

We had a tv, wardrobe. Sink in the room.there is a kitchen but no stove. Showers ok not the cleanest. All private rooms on a small side street. We had a little balcony, it was near the metro. Nice if you want privacy and quiet. We walked to all the sites and the area seemed quite safe. Owner friendly helpful kept a low profile.

Location - 3 mins walk from Alonso Martinez Metro. Walk down from there through the square, 2nd left and go along till just after Calle de Justiniano, small doorway on left of street, tiny sign, I walked right past it first time. Obviously businesses change but at the time of visiting, it was opposite the Lock-In bar/Idioteque club. Ring buzzer. It's on 3rd floor (turn right from stairs).

Small hotel taking up part of one floor, only a few rooms, shared bathrooms but there are two both with toilet/basin/shower/bath. Shared kitchen with washing machine, sink, kettle, microwave, fridge. Everything very clean.

The owner keeps a low profile but each day when I returned from an outing I found my room with fresh towels and freshly made beds. I had a single room by the way which had two single beds in. Had tiny balcony with wooden shutters/new upvc double glazed doors/inner wooden doors so outside noise kept to a minimum and I slept well each night. Not a noisy area in my experience anyway.

A minor niggle but not too important to me - couldn't get wireless internet but maybe have to ask owner for password?

All-in-all a very pleasant stay (6 nights), no complaints and would recommend.
