we went to Pollos y Croquetas purely by chance. We'd been looking for a place to eat along Creu Coberta (which is not too far from Plaça Espanya), but nothing appealed to us. So, we took off down a side street and found this little gem. It is a family-owned restaurant and they are from South America. The food is amazing! We dined here twice, once before a cruise and once after.
You begin with an appetizer. Choices include a chicken broth soup or croquetas or a pasta dish. The serving is not very big so you won't ruin your appetite. I highly recommend the soup. On both visits I hade the roasted half chicken. It is served with roasted potatoes, all in a thin gravy. It is excellent, and not too big a meal if you're hungry. They use a spice mix that includes rosemary and curry plus a few others, but none overpowers the others. It is a subtle blend that gives a hearty, home-roasted taste to the chicken.
The restaurant itself is warm and cozy. It is rather large, but it feels like home. We were guided to the main dining area on both occasions. The first time (lunch on a weekday) we were the only guests, but the second time (lunch on a Sunday) the place was crowded. We had excellent service both times.
If you are looking for good food at reasonable prices and friendly, polite and professional service, this is the place to go.
