We recently stayed here as part of a short 2 night stay in Barcelona having previously visited the rooftop terrace with friends many years ago.
The hotel is incredibly well located at the heart of Las Ramblas but is entered via a side street which felt very safe. The hotel itself is beautifully decorated and feels like a very luxurious experience particularly given the reasonable price.
We arrived very early (8.30 am) after disembarking a cruise and we were able to leave our luggage so we could explore Barcelona at our leisure. Check in was very straightforward and concierge took our cases to our room for us which was much appreciated.
Our standard room was on the smaller side but given we were staying in Barcelona, we didn't spend much time in the room and found it to be perfect for our needs. The were some slight signs of wear and tear but overall the room was beautifully decorated and well appointed. It felt very luxurious and the bed was one of the most comfortable hotels beds we have slept on.
We spent a lot of time at Terrace La Isabella which is a beautiful peaceful haven in the city to swim and relax with a drink. It is worth booking this hotel just for the rooftop terrace.
On our first day we decided to have lunch on the terrace. I had a burger and my partner had chicken skewers. The burger was very average (considering it cost £20) and unfortunately some of the chicken in the skewers was raw. The staff took the cost of the chicken of our bill and mentioned this straight to the kitchen staff but this did put us off the food. We did pluck up the courage to try some other dishes for lunch the following day and they were delicious so the chicken just seemed to be an unfortunate incident.
Breakfast was delicious with allergens clearly marked which is very helpful. My only concern was that almonds were placed on the cheese plates for decoration meaning I couldn't have any cheese. Given the care taken to mark the allergens, this seemed like a mistake.
Reception gave us recommendations for dinner. We chose 2 restaurants from the list and both meals were delicious. Taxis are available just outside the hotel for easy travel. Our room had french doors onto a courtyard we even with those closed we could still hear noise from Las Ramblas and found the corridor to be quite noisey. Nothing significant but I would take ear plugs just in case!
Overall, a very nice stay in a beautiful hotel and a hotel we would certainly return to.
