Tucked away up in Gracia on Carrer Verdi is this precious little cinema. The screens are all comfortable, clean and don't stink of stale popcorn or hotdogs nor are they full of irritating people with surgically attached mobiles.
They show mainstream as well as slightly cultish films, mercifully shunning the average bllockbuster dross. Most films are shown in the original language with Spanish subtitles.
My favourite aspect of this cinema is the info sheets in each film that you can pick up in the foyer. It can be best to get your tickets in advance for big movies as the screens are quite small.
A note to new visitors to this cinema: there are two parts to this cinema one entrance is on Verdi itself, the other is on the street behind, so make sure you go to the right entrance for your screen or you'll find yourself running round the corner at the last minute so's not to miss the start of your film.

It may be perverse to want to watch English language films when you're travelling in a foreign country, but sometimes I find I need downtime and just to listen to my own language. Plus, sometimes, when it's just too hot to be out and about and you find that the idea of yet another cafe or restaurant is not appealing (and you start to be conscious of those pending extra kilos), and you definitely do not want to go back to your apartment and stagnate, going to the cinema is an ideal thing to do.

And this cinema is great. It offers a great range of arthouse films. It's cheap. It's situated in Gracia, where there are great eating places nearby – and fortuitously only two streets from our apartment. Check out the current program at: www.cines-verdi.com/barcelona

Great place to see English speaking films.

Stumbled on this place in the trendy Garcia 'village in a city' area. Full to brimming on a Monday night with young and old. Dead cheap, and loads of places to eat nearby.
Great place. Wouldn't watch a film anywhere else.
Only criticism was seats were placed in narrow column rather than broad circle

They always have good movies from around the world here in the original language with subtitles in Spanish. Five different theaters here, and four more at the Verdi Park, directly behind on Carrer Torrijos. There'll surely be something you want to see.

The location is in the heart of the Graica neighborhood, filled with bars, shopping, restarurants, and nightlife, a much safer, cheaper, and more authentic área tan the Ciutat Vella.

If you have nothing else to do and feel like essing a movie, this is the place to go. You can't beat the neighborhood. You might make a trip up to Gracia with a movie at the Verdi as the centerpiece. Very popular among locals, it's been heere for 30 years and it's a Barcelona institution.
