This hotel is a hidden gem. On a quiet street, but still close to most major attractions it offers clean, modern looking rooms and friendly service. The rooms are small, but this is Europe and to be expected. They look recently renovated, with new LG flat sceen TVs. WiFi is expensive, but there are two computers in the lobby that you can use to check email or whatever (not that we sometimes had to wait until one was free).

While you can walk to most sights, there is also a Metro stop a block away which makes it easy to get around Barcelona. Ask the lobby staff for help getting around this city - they're more than happy to help. Check out Tapas24 for a great restaurant that is close by.

Although I made a reservation one week in advance, I was given a room for disabled guests because the hotel was fully booked and no other rooms were available. I thought that a room for disabled guests should always be kept by the hotel, being fully booked or not. My room (401) had a table only with one plug, so to use my computer I had to switch off the table light or work until my computer battery went off. As for the bathroom, the tap was so close to the sink that I could hardly wash my hands. The bar at lobby level is slow and inneficient. The gym has good facilities but it is small, so before you go down with your work-out gear, specially early morning, you should check whether it is full or not. Fortunately the hotel has a good down town location with numerous quality and inexpensive restaurants nearby, because their room service serves mostly junk or tasteless food. Lately I was not happy with the Renaissance by the airport and decided to try this one in town, but for me it was quite a disappointment.

Room Tip: Avoid room 401

We stayed at this hotel beginning of may 2012, as soon as we arrived at the hotel we felt very welcomed by the staff and they were very helpful. The bar staff were lovely and made delicious cocktails. Our room was lovely quiet small but very clean and had lots of toiletries which was great. The location was great too, about a 10 minute walk to La Ramblas which was a nice walk. We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis, we found the breakfast pretty poor we only stayed 2 nights if we had stayed any longer we would of had to eaten out on the third day.
Our overall experience with the hotel was fantastic and we would definitely stay there again if ever went back to Barcelona.

My husband and I stayed here after a cruise, and really enjoyed our stay. The hotel was easy to get to by taxi, and was very centrally located to the ramblas and other shopping areas, cafes, sights etc.

Free Wifi in the lobby, and they have a bartender there in the evenings, with lots of seating for a drink or to surf the net. Our room was a good size, complimentary sodas, water, and a beer in the fridge...that was a plus! Bathroom was nice size also, good lighting, roomy shower, plenty of amenities. The bed was a little noisy, and kinda thin, but after all the traveling we had done in the previous week, we slept with no problem. A/C was pretty quiet and cold, which made it comfortable as well.

After we left the next morning to the hotel (in a taxi) we arrived at the airport to find that our flight was cancelled, and wouldn't leave until the next morning due to weather in NYC. Soo , since we had just paid a taxi TO the airport, we tried to bus on the way back to the hotel to save some $$. Not a bad trip at all. The bus is right outside the terminal, dropped us smack in the middle of the ramblas, so we just walked maybe 2-3 blocks to the hotel. Broke a little sweat since it was warm out and we had 3 suitcases, but no biggie.

The manager at the hotel was kind enough to give us the exact room we had, with the same rate as before. Although we were ready to go home by that point, we enjoyed a full day of more Barcelona sight seeing. It was definitely enjoyable, and I'd love to visit this city again, and stay here!

Perfect location, just behind the main drag, we took the metro from the airport (10EUR for 10 trips) and then transfer lines to Paseig de Gracia. As soon as we came out of the Metro-Renfe, we saw Gaudi’s famous casa Batllo and the beautiful casa Amatller. The hotel is being renovated but there was no noise or disturbance. The mini-bar is free, the décor is very modern. However the room’s lower ceiling has that older feeling. The front-desk people are classic Catalans, not very friendly or customer service oriented. In fact they seem not to cater to tourists because they didn’t try to recommend anything and barely offered a map!! That doesn’t even cost them a penny it’s an “El Corte Ingles” map. The weather in late March was perfect for walking. 10 minutes to Plaza Catalunya, another 10 to Catedral, barrio Gotico and maybe 15 down to Barceloneta. Beware of the tourist buses, Sunday morning we saw a line around 9 a.m. of about 300 people deep by Plaza Catalunya. The taxi fare was 9EUR to Sants train station and 6EUR from Barceloneta to Plaza España. You would think that a business hotel would offer free wi-fi, but they don’t - it’s 2012 Barcelona, despierta!

Room Tip: Room at the end of the hall will have less traffic as you can hear travelers leaving their in the morning.
