The hostel is well located - either walk or a quick metro ride to most attractions. It's beautifully renovated - nice terrace and common areas.
Our private room was serviceable - it was tiny and only had a small window looking onto a light shaft. The Ensuite was clean - shower tiny as it always seems to be in Europe. Little ledges in the room/Ensuite were clever creating room to put things.
We found the hostel very noisy - as it is such an old building everything creaks, the doors to each room are huge and people always seemed to be slamming them, you can hear conversations word for word in the next door room or even rooms down the hall. Many nights people are still running around, having room parties until the early hours of the morning. So i would suggest coming prepared with ear plugs!
All in all for us we would spend the extra 10 - 20 euro a night for a decent apartment rather than going a private room here again.
Few Tips - Restaurant La Pepita around the corner is great - one of the best places we ate. Up the road a bit is a bakery called Turris - we got breakfast from here just about every day.

We were completely amazed at the location and beauty of this hostel. The breakfasts were excellent, as well as the paella and sangria (€8) that we ate one evening. The rooms were clean and air conditioned, and there were awesome fashion displays in the hallway. There was also an elevator, and the staff were eager to help us organise our stay in Barcelona. The hostel was lovely and quiet at night, and there were a few families stating there in addition to young adults.

I stayed at Casa Gracia with two friends in a private 3 bedroom, shared bath for three nights. The hostel itself is beautiful with very interesting architectural details, including a very old elevator (it's safe!). Staff is welcoming and speaks great English, although we wished they knew more about the sights in and around Barcelona. They did plan fun evening activities that I highly suggest everyone participants in (club night, sangria & tapas). We were given a room on the 4th floor which was very basic and could have had more electrical outlets, but all the beds were on the floor (not bunked) which was appreciated. The bathroom next to it was incredibly small but usable. Bring a hair dryer if you need one - apparently there's only one or two that float around the hostel and they're impossible to find. Try to ask for a room on a lower floor if it's really hot outside. The weather was cooler (about 70 degrees) and humid, it was still really hot, sticky, and stale air in the room. We kept the windows open all the time even during thunderstorms. They may turn on air conditioning when it's hotter. Not a great view from the room but that shouldn't be important when you're only there to sleep. Breakfast was basic (cereal, toast & jam, juice) but perfect for a bite to eat before exploring the city. The location was superb! It's easy to walk everywhere and there's also a metro stop down the block. It took about 15/20 minutes to walk to La Sagrada Familia and, in the other direction, to Las Ramblas. Overall I would highly suggest Casa Gracia for anyone looking for a reasonably priced, nice hostel in a great location.

I stayed here with three friends in February. The hotel was clean and the rooms were nicely decorated. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. They helped us decide where to go on nights out and directed us to the local shops. The hostel is close to the metro so very easy to get into the city centre. The breakfast was lovely and we even had a moroccan food night with other guests one night. Unfortunately we couldn't access wifi in our room because of the thick walls and there was bulding work taking place which was quite noisy. There was also a leak in our bathroom from the room above but staff were very quick at cleaning this for us and very apologetic. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend again.
