Just back from a 3 night stay at the Colon Hotel. Really nice hotel, perfectly situated, staff couldn't have been more helpful. Breakfast was great, buffet style with lots of choice. Weather was rubbish, rained continously for 3 days. Would recommend the open top bus tours as you get to see most of Barcelona, whatever the weather! Barcelona has to be one of the cleanest cities I have been to, although it is worth bearing in mind that most of the cleaning, rubbish collections etc are done during the night so keep your hotel window closed or you will be awake all night. The Sagrada Familia brought tears to my eyes, what an amazing place and the undercover market, off La Rambla is a must see too. Would definitely recommend a trip to Barca, next time we will go a bit later in the year when the sun might shine, because those beaches looked lovely. Oh almost forgot, there are no public toilets in Barcelona so beware....

Dear guest,

Thank you for your recent stay at the Colón Hotel and for taking a few minutes of your time to write about your experience and share it with your fellow travelers. We are happy to learn you enjoyed your stay with us.

Unfortunately, you did not have luck with the weather. But, generally the Mediterranean weather smile at us all year long, which makes out city a year-round favorite destination. In addition to all the details of your review, we'd like to add that Hotel Colon Barcelona, has a great location, and our guests always find it perfect and appreciate the fact that they can walk to many of Barcelona hot spots. Also, from the hotel it can be appreciated a spectacular view of the Old Cathedral.

We'll be looking forward to seeing you again next time you are in town!..

Best regards,

Hotel Colon Barcelona

Stayed here for 3 days - had booked room with terrace overlooking the cathedral on the advice of TA reviews and was not disappointed. Room was quite small, but well equipped and fairly luxurious - and the terrace area was just perfect. When we were in the room we spent most of our time on the terrace watching the various goings on down below in the the area in front of the cathedral. On Saturday night there was a band and local people were dancing - on Sunday morning there was also quite a lot of activity but as we were going out we did not see what it was. Have read other reviews I can agree that the food was expensive and ordinary - breakfast definitely was not worth it, but don't let that stop you staying here as in every other way the hotel was perfect for a stay in Barcelona.

Room Tip: Choose the room with the terrace.

Dear guest,

We are extremely glad that you enjoyed your stay with us, and since we know Barcelona is full of exciting things to do and see. We´d like to thank you for taking the time to write down very helpful tips that only someone who has fully experienced Barcelona can give! We are sure people will find it very useful as you found it before.

As you mentioned, in Saturday evening and in Sunday afternoon, from the terrace of the hotel you can appreciate a typical Catalan dance called “Sardanas”. This dance is done by the neighbors of the old town as a tradition, and all visitors are invited to join them and live the true Catalan experience.

We'll be looking forward to seeing you again next time you are in town!..

Best regards,

Hotel Colon Barcelona

Spent five nights at the hotel in early March. Paid extra for a room with a cathedral view which made the break extra special as the view of the cathedral and Avenida de la Catedral - a pedestrianised street - was stunning. Our room was on the 5th floor so we had a clear view of the cathedral. 2nd floor rooms might be obscured by trees. Small balcony so we could open the doors and hear the guitar, violin etc playing from the square which made us feel part of the crowd. Soundproofing was very good so most noise was blocked out (except for the diggers at the Cathedral but these stopped by about 5 p.m.) when we shut the doors. It was quiet late in the evening anyway so not a problem. Nice cafe outside to sit and watch the people go by.
The room was very clean and with a turndown service if you wanted it. Decor was okay but a bit bland. Lots of storage space. Reception staff were very helpful and gave me directions to the beer festival. Location was excellent, we could walk everywhere we wanted. If not the HoHo bus stopped about 200 yards away on the main road.
We would definately stay here again.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the cathedral are worth the extra cost. The taxi to the airport cost 12 euro more than...

A wonderful hotel facing the Cathedral - do go for the upgrade to a Cathedral facing room. Comfortable and well appointed rooms with a view of daily life in Barcelona. Children going to school to the Barcelona marathon - all past your balcony in the sun. Watching the Sardana on Saturday night and Sunday afternoon was magical and the buskers play some very high quality music. A gentle stroll to the Ramblas, to Ribero, the Port, Plaza Catalunya- an ideal base for exploring this wonderful city. The hotel staff were excellent. The breakfasts very good which really set you up for the day.

Room Tip: face the Cathedral if you can, maybe a little noisier but worth it!
