Owner description: Park Guell is one of the masterpieces of the Catalan architect Antoni Gaudi, who projected it in 1900. Inaugurated as a public park in 1926, it was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1984, reconizing its patrimonial and cultural value as a symbol of modern architecture, being one of the biggest exponents of Gaudi's modernism. This playful urban park, the work of architect Antoni Gaudi, features peaceful greens, winding paths and many sculptures and mosaics designed by Gaudi himself. We recommend the following options for ensuring that you arrive on time at the Park Guell Monument Precinct: - Metro (green line, get off at Lesseps or Vallcarca). When you leave the station, you’ll have a walk of about 20-25 minutes. - City bus (lines H6 and 32). When you get off the bus, you’ll have a walk of about 15 minutes. - City bus (lines 92 and 24). When you get off the bus, you’ll have a walk of about 5 minutes. - Barcelona City Tour and Bus Turistic. When you get off the bus, you’ll have a walk of about 10 minutes. - Taxi to Park Guell

Although the park itself is free to get into, payment is required for admission to the monumental core. My boyfriend and I both decided that we wanted to visit, and did so on the last day of our visit to Barcelona, after having visited the Sagrada Familia in the morning.
We arrived at the park at 2pm to find that tickets to the monumental core had sold out, and that the next available admission was at 6:30pm. It was extremely hot and we had planned and booked things for the evening, and so unfortunately we didn’t hang around and wait.

The free area of the park was lovely, it made for a wonderful afternoon’s stroll. It’s a real shame that this is the only activity that we didn’t book in advance, and would recommend doing so if you wish to visit.

The whole park is impressively green and well maintained. But the part with the tickets is pretty small and at the moment there's not a whole lot to see - the main square is undergoing some works. Besides that, there are two houses, one of which you can enter, but it contains just some photos, not really worth the long queue. I would recommend visiting it if you want to see as much as possible of Gaudi's works; otherwise is not much for the price. Also, the views of the city are great, but they can be seen from a nearby hill with three crosses as well.

You need to book tickets in advance. Be warned that the roads to the Park are very steep. You can see some the park from the road and there is a scenic path around the main park that you walk for free
