Owner description: The Basilica of the Sagrada Familia is a monumental church devoted to the Holy Family: Jesus, Mary and Joseph. Construction began in 1882, based on plans drawn up by the architect Francisco de Paula del Villar, and Antoni Gaudi was commissioned to continue the project in 1883. The Temple has always been an expiatory church, built only from donations. As Gaudi said: "The Expiatory Church of the Sagrada Familia is made by the people and is mirrored in them. It is a work that is in the hands of God and the will of the people." In 2010, Pope Benedict XVI consecrated the site as a minor basilica

An absolutely beautiful building, with an incredibly fascinating history. Definitely worth a visit; the inside is simply breathtaking so definitely worth going in rather than looking from the outside.

My boyfriend and I booked a “skip the queue guided tour” which was most definitely worth it. We both felt that we picked up on so much more, and many interesting details were pointed out to us that we might otherwise have missed. The guide was very knowledgeable and very thorough, answering any questions anyone had.

A must see if you’re in Barcelona, and certainly worth doing a tour.

A very worthwhile tour. I had visited the building some 18 years ago, but didn't do the tour due to admission fees. The site it still under construction and will be for another 8 years, don't let this put you off, it truly is a sight to behold.

Upon entering you are met with the vast main area, which really has to be seen to be believed. The level of attention to detail is unlike anything I've ever seen.

After doing a walkthrough of the main church we visited the museum underneath the buliding. This was worth the admission fee alone as it provided a lot of information about Gaudi and the processes he went through both artistically and structurally in creating his pieces. They truly are a marvel of form and function, really showing wait a brilliant mind he had.

After doing the museum I had to go through the church again, to investigate my knew found knowledge. This gave the church a complete new lease of life and details I hadn't noticed the first time around were now plain as day and made the church even more of a marvel. Truly amazing, not to be missed. I would dare say I will visit again once it is complete.
