I have just returned from a 5 night stay at RoomMate Emma and was delighted with my experience. The staff are extremely helpful and very approachable. The entire hotel is scrupulously clean and very comfortable. It is in a fantastic location! Only 1 minute walk from the metro and only a 10 minute metro to the beach. Most sights are actually accessible by foot if you don't mind strolling in the heat! Park Guell and NuCamp require public transport to access. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone! However, if you wish to put your bags in holding after checking out it does cost around €20 per bag.

We stayed at Room Mate Emma for one night in Barcelona and had an incredible experience. We were upgraded to the attic room (which has a fabulous roof top deck with a day bed and a tub) for an extra 10euros. It was one of the best hotel experiences we have ever had. The neighborhood is lovely and you can walk out the front door to delicious restaurants, good shopping, and sightseeing attractions (we're especially fond of Gaudi architecture.) We highly recommend this hotel.

Eixample district is a good place to get away from the hustle and bustle of Barcelona. The staff were very pleasant and helpful We had booked a standard room which they explained did not have an outside window so for an extra 10 euros we upgraded to a bigger room with a window. No view to speak of just an outside wall and next doors washing handing on the line. We could hear the metro but it did not trouble us and the location of the room was very quiet so we had a good nights sleepl

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room but be prepared to pay a bit more

We stayed at Room Mate Emma for 7 nights, while visiting with my husband and friends. The hotel was in a great location, as it is very near the subway station and in walking distance from major sightseeing attractions (ie,Gaudi houses), and Passeig de Gracia, their main shopping street with all the major brands and designer venues.
The hotel itself has very pleasant and quite spacious rooms. Ours did not have a great view as it was on the side of the hotel and all we could see were other buildings, but it was not a problem as we spent our days sightseeing and returned to the room late in the day.
The breakfast is deffinately above average, as it has a variety of choices for the hungry guest, plus a great coffee maschine. My only qualm would be that they do not allow you to take a cup of coffee to your room once you finish your breakfast, as there is no room-service to collect the cups.
The staff was very helpful, pleasant and polite, and gave us useful ideas whenever we asked for advice or reccommendations.
On the subject of transportations, we found the multiple ticket option very convinient as we did not have to buy a ticket every single time we used the subway, plus it is a lot cheaper than buying single tickets. I would like to warn fellow travelers to be careful as to where they touch on the subway, as me and my friends had the less than pleasant experience of a homeless man relieving himself on the subway escalators while being tranfered to the next level, standing directly behind us, at a safe distance luckily enough!
I also like to confirm other travelers whose reviews I have read, that it is not safe to walk on the lower part of La Rambla ( below the theater) after 6 in the evening. We met two guys who tried to to chat us up, using the "I am a fellow tourist and need hel with my map" routine. After a minute of talking to us they started getting unconfortably close to us, and their conversation began to make no sence, giving us the distinct impression that something was definately off and suspicious. We escaped in the nearby subway station and that was that.
Other than these two incidents, I have to give Barcelona 5* . It is a great city to visit and Hotel Room Mate Emma certainly adds to the experience. I will definately check out their other hotels should I visit any other city they operate in.
Overall a great experience.
