“So disappointing!!! Pretentious and overpriced hotel.”
Reviewed 21 February 2012

Stayed 5 days - 3 of those, housekeeping left our room door open. Although reported to management, this breach of security still occured. One small complimentary bottle of water during stay. Tea/coffee in room chargeable. No used toiletries replaced, including toilet roll. Exposed electrical wiring in room. Safe too small. Noise from other rooms easily heard. Japanese garden not so! Queues for breakfast. Undercooked food. Toasters require replacing. Food laid alongside window - sunshine on food and food drying out. Had to ask several times for breakfast items to be replaced. Chipped china. Breakfast bowls stuck together as they had not been dried properly. Although round tables have 4 seating places, there is little room for even 2 persons eating, particularly when used items are not cleared.
No proper redress to reported problems associated with stay. Management's answer is fruit sent to room and "We hope to do better when you next visit."

Room Tip: Rooms with Japanese garden view are a joke.

Dear guest,
The whole Sixtytwo Team was so sorry to know that you did not enjoy your stay in our establishment.
We already talked during your stay and also after your stay.
Some of the problems have already been corrected.
Such accumulation of errors we do think deserve a compensation and that’s the reason why we brought up to your room some fruits, truly thinking "We hope to do better when you next visit" and also a deduction of 185 € was made on your invoice.
Please understand that errors can happen, the most important thing is not to repeat them and thanks to your comments we will definitively improve.
Receive our best regards from Barcelona.

i stayed in the Sixtytwo hotel in early Feb 2012 on a short 3 day business trip. The Hotel is right on Passeig de Gracia, so you are right in the hot spot of Barcelona. The entrance is a bit hard to see, its just a couple of banners mounted high up above the beautiful big entry door. his hotel seems to be a converted apartment building, as the lobby is just a small entryway with a hotel desk and some settee's.

Overall Sixtytwo Hotel is very nice, it was clean and neat. The refurbishment that converted this from an apartment building into a hotel was done very well. The rooms are about standard size, with nice modern European bathrooms. The room furniture is minimalistic and modern, but very nice. The room could have used a desk, and I believe they will be working to add this. There was an espresso machine on a small table with a small selection of espresso and tea. The mini bar refrigerator was hidden in the closet, which is hiding behind the huge sliding mirror. Could have used some more shirt/coat hangers.

The breakfast buffet was served in the bar area on the second floor. A small but good selection of local cold meats and cheese, with some fresh breads, a little fruit, juice, and coffee, some deserts. You could also order an omelet.

I ordered room service for lunch and they did not have the ingredients for the salad, and so I had a club sandwich instead. the sandwich was OK, but not great. Have the club sandwich at the OMM Hotel, 3 blocks away for a great club sandwich.

Ideally situated in the center, at the airport you catch the train and get out right by the hotel for a fare of 3.50 euros. Perfect if you like shopping and tapas, visiting sagrada familia and the ramblas. The room was clean, quiet and stylish, the bedding comfortable, even the toothbrush was already there. I appreciated the modern lights with a dimmer but did not use any of the services like breakfast, which sounded quite expensive. I carefully avoided the porter who wanted to explain me how "the room worked, I guess for a tip.

This hotel was pretty good. We stayed here for 2 nights in August 2011 before a cruise.

The room was very clean, linen were fresh and we had inside view of the 'garden' which wasn't really that exciting. It didn't really matter as Barcelona is what we came to see. The bathroom was spacious and clean also. The room had a nice clock to connect an iPod and a Bang Olufsen television (I dont know what the fuss is about with Bang Olufsen, the TV quality, remote was poor). The room had a nook with a nice sofa for relaxing/reading.

The staff at the front desk were friendly, always acknowledging when I was coming or going. I didn't really need to interact with them beyond that.

This hotel allows you to start every day off with a nice walk, 20 mins to the top of Las Ramblas, 40 minutes to the piers. 45 minutes to 1 hour for Sagrada Familia. You do NOT have to walk to these locations as there is a metro station on the corner where the hotel is. We walked to most places and caught the train back. There is also a Gaudi house visible from the entrance to the hotel, 5 mins walk.

We didn't eat in the hotel and I got the impression that Spaniards don't do a hot breakfast. There are lots of nice places to eat in general though as you walk towards the city centre and a McDonalds 5 mins away (no hot breakfast menu when I went)...good for a coffee fix. I couldn't find a local place for bottled water and snacks but this seems like Barcelona in general, not many stores/kiosks in tourist areas like I am use to so I ended up having to walk to the department store 20 minutes away for snacks and drinks before it closed. All of the quick buy tourist stands were already closed after 9.

I would stay here again if I couldn't find another place.

We stayed here for two nights pre cruise in October. The hotel was amazing. We arrived at 10:00am after taking the RENFE train from the airport. The train/metro stop is directly in front of the hotel. Our room wasn't ready (didn't really expect it to be) so we freshened up in the lounge area, checked email on the hotel computers and grabbed breakfast at the restaurant next to hotel. Decided to do the HOHO bus that is also located almost right in front of the hotel. Headed to La Rita's for lunch (wonderful, local restaurant not to be missed very close to hotel) and then went to see if our room was ready. The only small complaint I had with this hotel was we had asked for a room overlooking the street and were put in a room in the back of the hotel looking out over a small court yard and apartment buildings. Our room was a nice size and very clean. The bathroom was well appointed and quite spacious. We never had any issues with noise. The room was extremely clean and maid service was always prompt. The bed was extremely comfortable and nice and large. There was an honor bar where there was always beer, wine and other assorted drinks available. There was a very nice breakfast available, but we never tried it. It was a bit on the expensive side and there are several places to eat 100 feet out the front door that were more reasonable. The front desk staff was always pleasant and always willing to help. If I was ever lucky enough to go back to Barcelona, I would not hesitate to stay here!
