“Great location & beautiful accomodations”
Reviewed 17 April 2012

The location was great - across the street is Casa Mila and you are surrounded by upscale shopping. A very safe and beautiful neighborhood. It is a 15 minute walk to Placa de Catalunya. The accomodations were very nice - very modern, large rooms with great views. I would highly recommend. We stayed there over spring break with myself, husband and 10 yr old son. There was plenty of room for all of us.

We stayed in room 26, which has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The Suites Avenue has a fantastic location on Passeig de Gracia - in the middle of the action and across the street from the Pedrera. In our room the master suite had a huge bedroom and bathroom with tub, shower, toilet and bidet. However it had no door separating the bathroom and the bedroom and so it is unsuitable for anyone but a couple or a single person. The other bedroom had a tiny single mattress and a rather tight bathroom. The kitchen was small but serviceable. Whoever thought of putting the dishwasher right in the way of the sink probably never did any dishes in his life. We wanted this room because as a family, having 2 bathrooms was a necessity. Unfortunately our lower floor meant we felt rumbling every time the metro passed underneath. I would definitely recommend a higher floor if possible. While it didn't bother me it could be bad for a light sleeper. The apartment was very modern and clean - I had no complaints except the handles to cabinets and closets were difficult to grasp and more stylish than practical. We appreciated the laundry and the dishwasher greatly and took advantage of the opportunity to eat in. The amenities are great too. There's a great rooftop deck with a pool and a lower pool for lap swimmers though it was too cool to swim while I was there.

Internet was good although there was only one ethernet jack in the whole unit which was slightly inconvenient. Overall I was pleased with my stay although the checkout process was annoying - really why was the inspection needed? During checkout the clerk was very concerned about the piece of glass under the tv in the living room and told me it was worth 400 Euros. It was a minor annoyance given the quality of the stay. I'd definitely recommend this for families and people who want to have an option to eating in.

Beware of the taxi cabs that are parked outside the hotel. 3 out of 4 times we hailed a taxi the driver tried to tack on a "supplemental" charge although we were not going to the airport, port, train station or convention center, nor did we have any luggage - which are the only instances where extra charges are allowed. If a cabbie tries to pull this stunt point to the taxi charge table that is posted in the car and ask "por que?". Unfortunately we didn't know how to handle this "tourist tax" until our last day but maybe someone will learn from our mistakes. We got overcharged twice this way and the third time I asked them to reverse the charge.

Room Tip: Definitely want to get a high floor and a view of the Pedrera.

suites Avenue was a great choice. The location was ideal, in the heart of L'Exaimple right across from Gaudi's La Pedrera, with taxis, buses and the subway at our fingertips. We drove from Geneva and parked our car in the hotel garage for 27 euro a day (we were able to park right on the street in front of the hotel for free on Sunday and Easter Monday). the suite was excellently furnished and beautifully maintained. Sitting on our terrace overlooking the interior courtyard was a great way to start or finish the day. highly recommend to all. And the staff was great

This is a gorgeous hotel in a great location in Barcelona - it is a self-contained apartment block, very modern decor but also v comfortable (full-sized fridge, dishwasher, cleaning service every day, great little gym, roof pool/terrace - note that the pool is small, ie not a lap pool, v comfortable bed). My only slight complaint is that my room was a little noisy - mainly due to someone knocking on my neighbour's door every morning at 8 am (too early for holidays!) which woke me up, but I'm quite a light sleeper. I stayed there with my sister, her husband and their 2 year old (they had a separate room, with its own baby cot), and we all had a great time. Very friendly staff also. And it felt extremely safe (you have to get buzzed in from the street).

Room Tip: I suspect rooms away from the street are quieter, but the view from the rooms on the street is amazi...

This hotel was perfect for our stay. We had a two bedroom apartment with kitchen, laundry, lots of storage, living/dining area, balcony, it was very spacious. Fantastic view of Passeig de Gracia. Two pools, small fitness center, internet is free if you are connected via ethernet cord. Plenty of little markets nearby to have some snacks on hand. Staff was so nice and helpful. So many restaurants and cafe's plus close to 2 metro stops. Only issue is the hotel is all stone so voices echo through the halls, staff should ask guests to be more quiet in common areas.
