“Nice comfortable hotel”
Reviewed 30 November 2011

The hotel is conveniently located - close to Sagrada Familia. In fact, if you are lucky, you might be able to see the massive structure from your room! If you like walking, it is a nice comfortable walk to the church - took us about 20m. Our room was nice and big with a separate sitting area. The staff at the hotel were very efficient and didnt take us long to check in or out. We were pleasantly surprised when they did not ask us to wait - the check in time was sometime after 1pm and we had arrived around 11am! most hotels, we were told, would not allow early check in so it was nice as we had had a long flight.

There is a tram and metro stop just 5mins away from the hotel so that makes moving around in Barcelona very easy. Getting to La Ramblas or Barri Gotic would take about 15m by metro. I would recommend buying a 1 or 2 day travel pass as it allows you unlimited travel on all public transport - including trams, buses & the metro. We didnt take the Barcelona Card as we were told that most museums were closed on the day we reached and hence it would be a waste.

Overall, it was a pleasant stay and we enjoyed Barcelona, despite the November rains!

For the price we paid for this hotel and the flights i think it was pretty good value for money.the room was lovely, very modern and clean, only 2 things would've made stay more comfortable...tea and coffee making facilities in room and there was a problem with our door lock ie we didnt realise the card system wasnt actually working to lock our door until our 3rd day when i pushed handlke down and the door just opened!Luckily valubles were still in tact, hotel staff very apologetic and helpful though especially when i realised i'd forgotton to confirm our transfer back to the airport and the guy on reception was very helpful and sorted it all out for me.They all speak excellent english!breakfast in hotel rather pricey but the melon cafe next door very reasonable, around 10 euros for the 3 of us for drinks and croissants.3 females travelling alone,at no point did i feel nervous, very safe and central location for metro and Sagrada Familia within about 10 mins walking distance.

Room Tip: Probably the higher up you go the less noisy as you are next to a university and it can get a little...

The hotel is located near a metro station and with in walking distance from Sagrada Familia.
The room was nice but not very clean. In the bathroom there wasn't a toilet brush.
the staff in the reception was helpful but don't ask them to call a taxi for you. The taxi we got to the airport over charged us with 12 euro (the trip from airport-hotel was 30 euro and the trip hotel-airport was 42 euro).

Room Tip: we staid in 207 that was a good size room overlooking the back

We stayed at the hotel for 6 nights. Lets start with the good things, which are many. Immaculately clean, towels and bedding changed everyday. Staff friendly. Breakfast very filling, we even took an apple each for our 2pm snack and didnt need to eat a meal til 5pm.Storage for cases on last day was a boom as we had a late flight home, we could explore more of the delightful Barcelona. Computer access and free WIFI.
Location is excellent, we used the marina and bogatel metro lines and the tram. We got 5 day travel cards and you can do as many journey's as you want. Did get a taxi to hotel in first night and that was reasonable.
The 'melon' cafe next door was great for our evening cup of tea, a must for us English.
I would like to suggest to the hotel they follow the example of all English accomodation and provide a small tray with kettle and coffee tea making facilities on in each room or a hot drink machine in the reception area.
Now onto the reason for my title, SADLY our first 4 nights in rm 201 (don't stay in it) we hardly slept. We assumed the first night was a one off for the noisy groups passing the hotel but i had to ring reception at 4am on Saturday as a group had congregated right underneath our very badly fitted windows for 2 hours shouting and talking.
Thank goodness for rain Sun and Mon evenings. it was quieter. We live on a busy main road so I am used to traffic noise but not screaming and shouting. Saturday it went on til 7.30am.
I would love to recommend this hotel as so much about it was excellent, but 4 nights disturbed sleep (thank god for earplugs) makes it difficult too recommend it.
Only way i would jump at another stay is if i could be re-assured of quiet nights. Both of us will definately visit BARCA again as its the most amazing place we have been too but staying at APSIS I am not sure sadly.

Room Tip: away from main road and students whose accom is next door.

Fab hotel in great location, 5 minute walk from metro station and just 3 stops on the red line to Placa de Catalunya. Staff all seemed friendly and check in / out was quick and efficient. Rooms were spacious but I agree they could of been cleaned a little better. Our room didn't have the kitchen but the fridge was a good edition. Would stay again and would reccomend to friends.
