Too tired to trek beyond our hotel's location in the west end of Eixemple, we asked for a recommendation from the front desk at U232 and they highly recommended this Basque Taberna two blocks away. It was only 7pm, but we were warmly welcomed and immediately told that we could order any of the tapas on their menu or any meals cooked to order, after a polite explanation that real eating does not normally get underway in Spain until 9pm (we knew that). We were just hungry from a day of marathon touristing. The food was outstanding...each dish was perfectly prepared and the tapas/pintos were excellent and very reasonably priced. It is a small family run place, and I can understand how it might get quite crowded at times...there are only about ten tables plus many more chairs along the bar. At 7pm on a Monday evening we were treated like royalty. This is Basque cuisine, so if you need Catalan or Castllian specialities this might not be your place. We loved it and will come back when next in beautiful Barcelona.
