I am a keen cook, but if tonight’s meal was representative of the standard of meals here, then all I can say is wow!!! Fabulous simple food - a starter soup of green beans and potato heavily redolent of hamon stock. Then a veal stew - perfectly tender chunks of veal beautifully cooked, with amazing spiced figs and fried potatoes, so delicious. And then perhaps best of all, a beautifully tart sort of lemon panacotta, but with divine marron glacé on top in a lemon and honey sauce. I know sweet chestnuts are 2 a penny here - but - wow!!!! And an offered frozen fig liquor to finish. How perfect!!!
This place is not easy to find - drive a km beyond Candin on the main rd and it’s signposted off to the left. It’s pretty basic in the room dept - yet really fine. But the food is exquisite, and we had a fabulous bottle of red wine too!! Do visit ....More
