“cheap and cheerfull........”
Reviewed 7 July 2012

we have been going to menora for 20 years and have stayed here many times in the past. we only paid £400 for 2 of us for 1 week so we cant complain..... the first thing we did was to sit at the bar and have a cool drink and somthing to eat,the food was still good ,only snacks but well cooked snacks... the place is a little run down now and we could really of done with air con as it was hitting 34degrees while we were there.. the pool area was great ,but head down to the little cove its beautiful. for food you MUST try the HAITI resteraunt on the corner near the round about the food is fantastic and the service from the staff is second to none and too expensive... for a day out jump on bus 61 it will take you into ciutedella which is a lovely old walled city or you can swap the bus at the terminal there and head off to the beach at calan bosch soooo loverly.... have a walk round the coastal path to another little beach.. oh i wish i was still there well worth the money.....

Room Tip: we rang the apartments before we went and asked for a pool veiw and when we got there we got one. oh...

We stayed at the Los Lentiscos apartments many years ago so thought we would give them another try. The complex is in need of a bit of paint but overall we got what we paid for - a cheap week away in the sun. The apartments are basic but clean with the bedding and towels replaced regularly. The reception staff are very friendly and accommodating, however, the staff serving snacks were a bit on the miserable side. The accommodation was in a good location not far from the restaurants and bars. There are 3 beaches to choose from. Cala en Forcat beach is very small but picturesque (I could see this getting very busy in high season). Calan Blanes is a 15 minute walk with toilets and 2 beach bars to choose from. There are no refreshment or toilet facilities at Cala en Forcat beach. There is another beach just over the way from the Jimmy Hill Bar - can't recall the name. This again is only small but does have a little refreshment place and a couple of portable toilets. The one thing that lets this resort down in a big way is the food. I am sure we are not the only couple who don't want chips with every meal or salad. We did eat at Haiti restaurant and were offered a choice of potatoes and we did get vegetables which was a first. What they need is a little Menorcan restaurant cooking traditional food - I'm sure that would do very well indeed. A visit to Ciutadela is a must. If you go in the morning the place is full of hustle and bustle with the shopkeepers opening for the day but if you go in the afternoon don't expect to do any shopping as everything closes until later. Ciutadella is very much a cafe society but go off the beaten track and have a look down the various alley ways - you will be surprised at the little tapas bars tucked away which serve traditional food. We were lucky to be there when the Fiesta was taking place which was amazing. From Cala en Forcat you can get a bus to Cuitadella for a small fee and if you want to journey on the another destination you just change buses in the centre. We did have a meal on the harbour front and as much as it was nice it was overpriced for what we ate. Obviously you are paying for the view. Personally I would rather eat at one of the back street tapas restaurants - better value for money and the food is very good too. This resort is ideal for families with children. There are lots of bars with play equipment to keep your little ones entertained and the Menorcan people love children and go out of the way to provide for them. Another place to visit is Maxis bar. This is just up from Los Lentiscos on the right hand side. You can see a lovely sunset there. The apartments do not have air con however, the was a fan which we did need as we had very good weather whilst we were there. I would think in high season you would find it diffucult to sleep with only one fan. In short, we had a good holiday, we did find some restaurants without chips and had some lovely tapas in Ciutadella. A good holiday for families but I think I wouldn't be rushing back despite the picturesque surroundings.

We booked this on a late deal, the apartments themselves are pretty basic but clean. Surprisingly without air con but they do stay quite cool and the hotel do supply a fan in the wardrobe! The pool is very nice and very few people in it. I would rate it pretty well for couples or people wanting to stay away from young children. There's a reasonable bar that you can get snacks from as well. There was a lot of Spanish in the hotel - but hey it is their country and that's usually not a bad recommendation. Cala en forcat on the whole was very British and to be honest not the kind of place I would choose again, certainly not without a car. The island itself is beautiful and small so it's easy to get about. We only went for a long weekend and managed to find a few jewels not too far away. This isn't for people looking for luxury but if you want a cheap getaway base, you can't really complain about what you get for the price.

Room Tip: There's shade on the lower level balconies & nice to sit out, the second level looked like t...

Had a good week but it was spoiled by the appt having no air conditioning. it was a very hot week and it was very difficult to sleep, infact night before i came home it was so hot that i had no sleep whatsoever.
The room itself was very clean and i was suprised that there was a full sized fridge and a kettle. the appt we were in was near the big pool which was great but the major drawback was the bar was literally a few yards away and there was loud music blaring out for most of the time, day and evening. It was mostly spanish staying and i felt that we were mostly ignored. A large group of spanish teenagers were staying at the same time and they were very noisy especially during the early hours of the morning. I was disappointed by the lack of sports etc that had been advertised when i booked the holiday. I love cala forcat but unless Los Lentiscos installed some form of air conditioning i would not stay there again.

Room Tip: a room away from the main pool would be best bet if you want a quieter experience

We stayed 8th June for 8 nights. This is our 8th visit to Cala n Forcat we have a 7 and 8 year old. The resort has a good selection of restaurants not just "British" cuisine. The apartments are situated in a great spot 5 minutes from the centre. They are basic but have everything you need as a base, they are clean and the beds are comfy. I had read several reviews all bad on the complex but decided to give it a go purely on price we paid only £178 for 7 nights for 4 of us. The staff were friendly, the pool bar reasonable and so was the food. It did close about 8pm as the complex was about 30% full. There was an animacion guy trying his best with the few guests he had. The pool was clean and plenty of sunbeds, although some people with ground floor apartments seemed to thonk it was ok to stash the sunbeds by their terraces. I emailed prior to our arrival to ask for a sunny terrace and wuiet room which we were given with a sea view. The supermarket is shut but there is one just behind the complex so no big deal. For the money excellent value and we would stay there again. In our experience there isnt a huge difference in any apartments in Menorca they are all tired so my recomendation is dont pay a lot. Across from the Los Lentiscos on the side road is a lovely locals bar called Maxis hidden away with great seaviews, strongly recommend this. A trip to Cuitadella 10 minutes away is a must a lvely town and great quayside restaurants. I think some of the reviews are unfair to the complex and you should remember it is only a 2 key.

Room Tip: Ask for a seaview top floor, room 92 is a good one
