Wonderful and creative tapas with an Far East fusion angle served by Basil Fawlty on a 'take-it or leave it' basis. Bizarrely, photos/cameras are banned. It's not The Ivy but this restaurant is well worth a visit for the quality of the food and the quirkiness of the owner. The result is pure theatre!

If you have worked in bright sunlight every day of your last 35 years and have blue eyes you would understand that bizarrely someone would be sensitive to flashes. Since no one asks before they take a photo I sometimes get a bright flash in my eyes and I cannot see for 30 minutes. you may think that everyone who comes to a restaurant doesn't mind being included in a photo but I have clients who have come one day with a partner and another day with another partner so would be upset if they were discovered on a social site. Most shops or restaurants or indeed anything that sells are on a take it or leave it basis. Basically if you are looking for shoes you wouldn't go into a shirt shop, likewise if you wanted to eat pizza you wouldn't enter our bistro, you either like what is on the menu or you look for another menu. A famous Yorkshire saying was "There is nothing as strange as folkes" obviously you consider me quirky but you should also consider what i view each day from my side of the fence. Another saying that everyone knows is "People in glass houses shoudn´t throw stones".

We had so much fun here one lunchtime trading words with the quirky proprietor Mr Drummond who claims to be of Irish descent. Maybe he was, maybe he wasn't, he could have claimed to be from Manchuria and he would have been equallly convincing. He certainly was a friendly, witty, funny and intelligent host.and yes indeed as others have commented there is an element of Basil Fawlty about him. In a nice kind of way of course.

Food here has a distinctly French /oriental style with just a smidgen of Spain thrown in for good measure which is delightfully crafted by Mrs Drummond in her culinary laboratory. We loved this place with its' authenticity, character and charm. Did I a forget to mention that the food is pretty darn good here also.

Mr.Drummond we are coming back, not today, maybe not tomorrow but we shall return so please keep us that lovely little table under the window ! Fue un placer.

We had been touring the Cathedral and Baths, and were actually trying to backtrack and navigate back to our hotel, when we walked by Las Olas and were immediately tempted to stop. The restaurant offers the highest quality fine, fresh Mediterranean cuisine. We ordered from the Menu del Dia; I had a tasty grilled fish topped with a light hummus based sauce, pomegranates and mixed salad, and my husband had a very delicious strawberry gazpacho and spinach pie. The owner chatted with us a bit, and we appreciated his dry wit and conversation. So glad we stopped in! Highly recommend Las Olas Bistro.

If you are English you will understand: the waiter is a Spanish John Cleese.; eccentric and fun! The food is great tasting and very reasonably priced. I am glad it is off the beaten track; Palma is an altogether more promising proposition now that we have found this and the surrounding area! Keep it weird!!!!!
