“Outstanding hotel in Zaragoza”
Reviewed 4 May 2012

This may have been our best stay during a month in Spain. The hotel is very nice, excellent service at the front desk as well as room service. We didn't use the restaurant so can't rate that.

Our room was on the procession route of numerous Holy Thursday processions. We had a great view from our balcony. The room had double glass doors and heavy curtains that kept the noise to a minimum. You could literally sleep through hundreds of people pounding on drums below your window.

We watched an 8, 10:30, and 1 am procession (ordered a very reasonable bottle of wine from room service because stores were closed) but elected to stay in bed rather than watch a 3 am procession.

The Catalonia is a beautiful hotel in the very center of Zaragoza and walking distance to everywhere. The rooms are great and with a big bed (not a double). If every room I had in Europe was the same I would be very happy. Since its in the very center of the city you may hear the crowds in the early hours of the morning. I had a room in the fourth floor. Also, the hotel does not have parking. It is available nearby for 18 euros per day. Great price!

Room Tip: Higher floor would be best

What a pleasant surprise to arrive at the Catalonia El Pilar hotel and find it even better than we expected. Modern architecture within an antique building and every amenity provided. Beautiful marble bathroom and large room (# 405) with large soundproof windows opening to small balconies overlooking the nearby
church and rooftops. Extremely friendly and helpful front desk and smiling housekeepers. Location is central to everything. Parking a block away. Wish we were staying longer!

We stayed here during a 2 day stay in Zaragoza. We stayed in room 111 and had a double balcony as a bonus. The hotel is located centrally, just steps away from the Roman forum and main square. Check in and checkout was smooth. All the desk staff that I encountered was extremely friendly, helpful and spoke fluent English (major plus since my Castillian is lacking). My request for an additional pillow was answered almost immediately. The breakfast had a large selection and remained fully stocked. My room was well stocked, tidy, and noise was at a minimum. Bedding was simple but very comfortable. The drying of hand washed garments was made easy by having a heated towel rack and balcony. The room’s negative would be that the bathroom had the ½ shower door that is so perplexing to many Americans. After a typical American shower water tends to be everywhere. There was free and fast Wi-Fi available in the rooms. In the lobby there is a communal area with a public use computer. There is a courtyard right across from the hotel with a fountain and benched that was quite relaxing. Parking is an easy 3 minute walk, but we could unload right at the front door. The train station is just 10 minutes away by car. This was an excellent value without skipping quality. We will gladly stay here during our next trip to Zaragoza.

I found this place with trip advisor and I was not disappointed.
The hotel is beautiful it is located in the middle of the old city.
Rooms have free, strong and fast WIFI.
View from the room is beautiful.
Each room has a tiny balcony which is heaven for smokers (Just look out not to fall)
Breakfast is rich and tasty.
Bathroom is clean and organized. Only problem is that the toilet is too close to the bath but not too bad.
The nearest parking is 3 minute walk and there is always a place to park near the hotel to drop your stuff.
