“Communication is difficult, but what a bargain!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 April 2012

Booking was a little difficult in English, and I was surprised when a charge appeared on my credit card right after I made the booking (I wasn't aware that they were going to charge in advance), but everything turned out just fine. The location is excellent (make sure to check out the fried seafood restaurant on the corner), especially for drivers (pay lot close by). The property is a bit odd looking, but the rooms were clean and the owners are friendly (use the owner's daughter to communicate). Best of all it was only 40 Euros a room!

I got this place cheap about 6 hours before I travelled to Seville during the busiest time of the year. I just needed a place for one night. It was adequate and in a very good location. It was within walking distance from the train station and the major sites. And the staff were quite friendly. I recommend if you need a cheap no frills place for a short stay. It's true that the rooms have no windows. The stairs to the upper floors are also a bit steep and narrow if you have any mobility issues. There are rooms downstairs but these may be noisy as the entrance and shared bathrooms are downstairs. The place is clean but not spotless. Bring your toiletries as pensions do not usually provide this. And if you want nice towels, please bring your own. Also, you can only shower between 8.30 am and 10/11 pm.

Room Tip: Rooms upstairs are quieter.

I'll start with the positives: It's close to plenty of restaurant options, and to the cathedral. It's relatively cheap but I've stayed at nicer places for cheaper. We got our own bathroom which was well worth it.

Negatives:
We got there at 3 in the afternoon and the door was locked with no one around (it's down a little ally). We just stood there banging on the door for 15 minutes before someone came out of a different house and let us in, he was confused and spoke no english. I'm not sure how you run a hostal without knowing a single word of English but this guy thinks he can do it. The rooms are windowless...so beware, you'll always think its night time. The bathroom is kind of clean, the beds are pretty uncomfortable but that's what you get when you stay at any place in this price range.

When we were leaving to check out, this guy was no where to be found because they have no reception desk! I wandered up the private rooms and knocked on those doors and he finally came out, annoyed. Seriously, people have to check in and out of your place so make it easier. This was the most annoying thing and the reason I gave this place a 2, you never know where the owners are so you can't relay anything to them. FRUSTRATING.

Room Tip: Ask for as room for a bathroom, otherwise you have to share showers which have specific times you ca...

My wife and I stayed here this past May during our travels through Andalucia. We booked a private room at the Pension, since we wanted to save some money while staying in Seville. the Pension San Benito was perfect. We are not used tio staying in Hostels (this is just a very nice hostel), and were very happy with our stay. The room is very basic, but well kept. the walls are a bit thin, but we did not have any issues with noise while there. The location is fantastic and is walking distance to everything. We loved our time in Seville and would recommend this pension to anyone travelling on a budget.

Our room had no window or ventilation (to get air, you had to open up the top part of your door that gave onto the common courtyard - you can see this in some of the pictures) and the problem was compounded when we had to use the bathroom.... The pension is run by a very nice family that let me cancel my second night's stay with them at no charge.
