We had one day to see the Alhambra. Arriving in the afternoon, seeing the Generalife then having dinner on the terrace overlooking the gardens makes this parador worth it in and of itself. The fact that the hotel feels like a refuge within the complex is a bonus, its actually a great hotel, not just trading on the location. Its a splurge alright but it is a bargain kept.

Stopped here for two nights at the end of June. Temperatures were in the 40c. We were offered an upgrade to a suite for a modest increase in the rate on checking in. After seeing the std room we took the upgrade. Would recommend this. Room had a sitting room with TV and also nice bathroom. Had a meal on the terrace in the evening, very good. However the I noticed the staff seemed to work all day and not enough of them. At breakfast by 9.30am when we arrived a lot of things were missing and had not been replaced, which also suggests a shortage of staff. However all this pales into insignificance when you realise where you are in the middle of the Alhambra.

The parador experience is usually very good. But being inside such a monument, the Allambra, is more than fantastic. Yes, the price is high, but if you can afford, GO for it!!

If you're interested in visiting the Alhambra how could you not love sitting outdoors having breakfast or a drink in the evening overlooking the Generalife, or strolling down to the palaces at dusk! This should be on anyone's bucket list. The Parador is beautiful, the inner courtyard is a jewel, the rooms are large and we had a great view of the gardens. The parador itself has lovely parterre gardens which attract the visitors to the Alhambra. Its surreal to be able to drive right in to the heart of the grounds and park your car! If you book a nighttime visit to the Nasrid palaces it is a joy to dander along the few minutes walk there and back. We didn't have dinner but it looked expensive and from what we experienced when ordering drinks the staff in the bar/restaurant were pretty poor and unfriendly. Apart from that minor irritant it seems impossible not to love the experience.

We stayed here for one night, and we felt like we were part of history. The Parador is part of a palace and mosque built around 1333, and was later converted into a Franciscan convent. The inside of the parador is beautifully restored and decorated in modern style and Mudejar style. Beautiful gardens, and lovely interior patio. No pool. The room was nice and comfortable. The bathroom well appointed. We had a bathroom with a tub, but is very common to find only a shower in many of the nicest remodeled hotels in Europe. We enjoyed the restaurant outside, with gorgeous terraced gardens and the view of the Alhambra's Generalife.
If you want to visit the rest of the Alhambra, you need to get tickets, preferably in advance.
The place is pricey, but well worth the experience. Highly recommend it.
