There are many good points about the Melia Granada.

Excellent location for bars, restaurants and shopping. Calle Navas behind the hotel has a large number of bars and restaurants. The main tourist area is only a few minutes walk away.

The buffet breakfast is excellent. Huge choice of items.

The lounge/bar is very welcoming and the prices are unbelievable for a hotel. Little wonder it is so busy at 3 Euros for a large Cava or a beer. Just wish more hotels realised that more competitive prices will increase occupancy and atmosphere.

It is only 5 minute flat walk to the bus stop for Airport. We used this on the way back and at 2.90 Euros was a good choice. The taxi on arrival was 27 Euros.

The refurbished room was clean and comfortable without being worthy of better comment.

Not happy that the Aircon was centrally controlled and hotel advised that as it was now winter the temperature is set higher.
The temperature outside the hotel was 28F the day before we arrived and 22F during our stay. Our room was too hot and with the window open very noisy. Will check for individual Aircon in future.

If you want to walk to the Alhambra allow at least half an hour as the last half mile is fairly steep and not suitable for anyone who is unfit. The local land train and bus service is good value and operates regularly.

Most of the best areas to visit (outside of shopping) will involve walking up hills to get the most of the experience. Excellent if you are reasonably fit and like walking.

Overall a very enjoyable 3 night stay at a very nice hotel.

The Hotel Melia Granada is located in an extremely convenient location in the middle of the city and, somewhat unusually for Spain, car access is quite simple (and there is a parking garage just next door). The public areas are beautifully decorated although the bedrooms are somewhat less so (but more than adequate - except that the walls seem very thin - and spotlessly clean). The hallways do form a bit of a maze until one becomes used to them (there are several fire doors which are shut at night - a wise precaution but a bit alarming in the early morning when not all of the lights have been turned on. The breakfast buffet is everything one could want.

Room Tip: Upper floors (away from traffic on the street) are best.

One of our last visits to this country. The hotel seemed extremely busy, staff was VERY friendly and courteous. Very good impression, by front desk, especially Francisco (Fran). He took his time and recommended an upgrade at our request, room 628. For a few Euros more a night, we spent the best nights of our trip here. We stay here for two nights. The view from the room was amazing, the Alhambra, the cathedral, the entire city. The comfort of the bed and number of pillows. They received us with a bottle of wine and appetizer when they turned down the bed the first night.
The hotel has a very small gym, and have a restaurant that we did not use. They offer breakfast for a fee. The feel is very classic, dark carpets, wooden halls, etc.
It has an excellent location, in the middle of downtown. Able to walk everywhere in this beautiful city.
The only difficult side is the parking. It is a few feet away, down the street. All payment is done through that parking site, not within the hotel. Minor, compared to the rest of the experience.
We highly recommend this room! :)

Room Tip: 628 - hands down!

This was an excellent hotel in a great location with lots of upmarket bars & restaurants along the same road and only 15 -20 minute walk from Alhambra Palace. The bed was extremely comfortable and the breakfast was of a high standard with lots to choose from. I would definitely stay at this hotel again if I returned to Granada.

We only had one night in Granada but Hotel Melia was a great choice on the part of our tour company. It's a grand old building in a very central location, which enabled us to walk around everywhere with ease.
