“Lovely stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 July 2012

Stayed for 4 days in April.Very quiet time so had pools to ourselves. No problems with reception but this may be due to time of year. Rooms and hotel were very clean. Stayed B&B and food was very good. Drink prices ok. Very good location near the beach. Only fault would be the pool was cold but nothing could be done about that. Not everything was open but again that could be time of year. Train service to the town from the airport and into Malaga is amazing and very handy for trips out. Visted Gibraltar during our stay, well worth the drive. Hotel would be ideal for families. Would definitly stay here again.

Room Tip: Try get a sea or pool view.

I stayed here for 4 nights with my partner and his family (Mum, sister and 4 year old nephew) on half board basis

Hotel Facilities: as mentioned in previous posts hotel check or needing something from reception takes ages, with massive queues. The hotel should provide more staff on the front desk especially during weekends.

The pool are is clean, but not enough beds for all the guests. People end up getting up at early to put towels out. One day we went for a walk after breakfast and when we arrived at pool no space, many beds reserved with towels so we went to the beach across the road which is very nice. The hotel could also benefit from some gym equipment.

The restaurant: Previous reviews say that the food is greasy, i didn't find this but i don't eat fried food and may be the case for the food targeted at the english/irish guests. The Spanish food was very nice, lots of fresh fish, paella, gazpacho, salad. The house wine is nice and good value. We only stayed four nights but i would imagine staying there longer the food may get a little repetative / boring. Lots of variety at breakfast lots of fruit and yogurt and baked goods. also hams and cheeses etc

Rooms were ok for two people, perhaps a little small but not too bad. Room was quiet and cool and managed good nighst sleep. The bathroom was good sized and clean.

hotel was in excellent location and Torremolinos is nice, much nicer than i was expecting.

Overall we enjoyed our stay and would stay again.

Hello, katycrunchie. First of all I would like to thank you for giving us your review and for having chosen Sol Príncipe for enjoying your holidays.
I am so glad that you like the typical Spanish food that we prepare in our restaurant, as you know every week we have a special meal in our buffet in which you can taste typical Andalusian food, like fried squid, gazpacho, Mediterranean salad…

I take note about the rest of your comments, don´t hesitate we will do our best to improve this aspects for your next visit.

Sincerely José Fermín Gómez. General Manager Sol Principe Hotel.

We stayed here for 1 week at the end of June. As is well documented the check in queue is almost permanent. Having read the reviews I was ready for a long check in but still very frustrated after 1 and a half hour But ignore this, and you have a great hotel. Rooms spotless, (higher the floor, better the view). Food excellent, pools are great. From the large noisey kids side to the smaller quieter relaxed side with a side gate to the beach.
Good location right on the beach at the north end of Torrremolinos.

Get the check in sorted and its 10/10.

Just returned from our holiday at the Sol Principe (4 nights) - booked simply to surprise a friend on her 40th birthday, staying at a nearby hotel. Have to say we had a fab time from the moment we arrived until the moment we left. Our first impression of the hotel/reception was it was spotlessly clean and stylish in appearance. The staff were friendly on checking in and any time we needed to book a taxi. Our room was likewise spotless and very comfortable. Lovely view out to sea and over the pool area from our balcony. Great location for walks along the prom/beach. The pool bar and entertainment on a nightly basis was the best we have experienced in the Costa. Thought the Lion King and Mamma Mia productions were fab. The bar staff were constantly working hard but were always in high spirits and able to turn their hand to the multiple Mojito's we ordered!! Although we were travelling without children or parents, come to that, it looked the ideal place to return one day with a mixed age group. Something for everyone. Had a great time and wouldn't look past this hotel should we return to the area. Lastly, we had the best day out in Malaga (loved it, having overlooked it before as simply somewhere you fly to!!). 17euros taxi fare well worth it for a great day out..found taxi's to be extremely clean, well driven by courteous taxi drivers. Fab!

Nice position and facilities let down by appallingly slow checkin and lack of enough staff and incompetence at reception. Food undoubtedly greasy and not up to 4 star standard. The Sol trio of hotels 550 yards away are much better and cost very little if any more.Only after you leave do you realise the sheer volume of noise around the pool area so relaxation is not on the menu.Abiding impression is of a Butlins style holiday camp in a sunny country, not a 4 star hotel

Room Tip: higher floors insulate you somewhat from the noise
