“Great stay @ Costa del Sol”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 May 2012 via mobile

Just back from a week at the Costa del Sol, I think this must be our 5th stay at the hotel.
The location is perfect - right on the beach, EUR20 taxi fare from the airport. Large modern clean rooms, friendly staff, and the breakfasts are out of this world (available until 11am). free wifi in the rooms & a free safe in the room.
We will be back as soon as we can.

Stayed May 2012, travelled as a couple

Hotel is perfectly located - beach and strips of restaurants across the street, shopping and more restaurants on top of the hill (just take the lift beside the hotel for .50 eur, you will get to the top). Rooms are big, beautifully decorated, very clean. Clean bathroom. Rooms have ocean view with balcony. Good service, warm and friendly staff. Free WiFi. AC is ON only on summer months, we stayed here in April, so no AC, just open your windows for fresh air from the sea (i like it though). Food is excellent, various choices, huge dining area and excellent dining service. The only downside I could think of is the elevator, 3 doors but not enough for a huge hotel catering to many large tour groups at the same time, long que during peak hours.
Would stay again in a heart beat.

I stayed here for 1 week whilst on a relaxing break with my partner. The reviews on trip advisor were mixed however I must say that I throughouly enjoyed my stay at this hotel.

The hotel has a fantastic location adjacent to the beach and all rooms have a sea view. The hotel is immaculately clean and rooms are exactly what you would expect from a 4 star hotel.

Breakfast was good and overall great value for money. I will definitely be returning to this hotel.

We recently returned from a short bank holiday break at the Melia Sol hotel. The reception of the Hotel is located on the lower floor of the Hotel. When we checked in at the Hotel the staff were efficient and helpful. When we entered our Junior suite there was a fusty smell in the room but this soon disappeared when we opened the balcony doors. The room itself was clean but dated and could do with redecorationg. My advise is to book a classic room which have already been upgraded and look much better. The hotel lounge areas are very minimilistic with not a plant in site, any planters there are have 3 wooden bamboo poles sticking out of them probably for low maintenance. You have to see to believe! The breakfast room is very like a department store restaurant, again very stark but the breakfast's are excellent. On the first busy day we were shown to our table and left to fend for ourselves, we got our own cutlery, cups, napkins and coffee pot. One of the automatic toasters broke on the first day and by the fourth had not been replaced. Imagine the queue when you have to put the bread through 3 times to get it near brown. Evening meals are ok but the atmosphere is designed to get you in and out as quick as possible with little ambience. We were booked half board for four days and ate out two of the nights due to the selection of main courses, desserts were good.

The main bar opens at approx 5pm and there is no waiter service, if you want a drink at the pool, no chance. The tables at the pool had no brollies although the temperature was 25oC. If you require a drink you go to the cafe bar.

The Hotel caters for Americans and Europeans who use it as a base for coach tours. The location of the hotel is excellent as are the staff but don't converse unless you make the first move.

Overall it is difficult to put your finger on the problem with this Hotel but I felt as if I had been away on business rather than a holiday. we were booked to visit this Hotel in September but are now cancelling. I would not say don't stay here but don't expect a holiday experience.

Room Tip: Go for a classic room overlooking the pool.
