A fairly easy uphill walk but made a lot harder by the heat.

Tip - go as early in the day as you can.

Once at the top it is 2.20 Euro entry and you can then climb all over the castle with breathtaking views in all directions.

Well worth the effort!

Its a steep walk up to the castle from the city centre (15 mins approx) and there is also a bus -number 35 - that drops you by the castle. Comfortable footwear recommended for the walk!

There is little in the castle itself but the views are stunning. It's really worth the walk and €2.20 admission price. If you plan on going to the Alcazaba as well you can buy a combined ticket and get a discounted rate for the two sites.

We chose to go to the viewing area we passed on the walk up to view the sunset with some drinks.

We were not planning to walk up the hill, and had been thinking the Alcazaba would be far enough. However when we got close, we gave it a go. Yes some commitment and strength required on a hot day, but it was worth the effort. There is a good history lesson involved, and easy to get the perspective of the invasions once you are standing up there.

The walk to the top wasn't very long, however attempting to drag a 13 year old up there in 30oC wasn't easy. The views from the top were breathtaking (that or we were still out of breath from the climb).
We found out that the tour bus takes you up to the castle the following day. We must say we didn't mind the views 2 days in a row.

The view was simply phenomenal! The hike is quite a trek but the view over the whole of Malaga is truly mesmerising.
