“Perfect Easter Getaway”

This is a great location if you want some early sunshine, especially if you have young children who don’t understand that the weather is simply beyond your control! And having spent many a cold wet Easter in Devon sitting in a “delightful” cottage looking out at the rain, we decided that Spain was a much more attractive proposition.

We booked our flights early with Monarch to get the best deal and flew from Birmingham. The hassle-free journey door to door, including the hire car, was about 7 hours, arriving at the apartment just after lunchtime. Ian, the resident host, welcomed us at the door and gave some useful advice to help us settle in.

The apartment itself is ideal for a family and has everything you need. The rooms are a good size and well set out. The main bedroom is away from the living room and has its own en-suite and the second twin bedroom has use of the other bathroom. The walls are nice and thick and the place has proper doors – ideal if you like the idea of a quick siesta in the afternoon!

The enormous veranda looks out over the local hills and offers the perfect spot to enjoy breakfast while taking in the early morning sunshine - very nice indeed. It’s also ideal for kids to play while you’re getting the dinner or whatever.

We spent a couple of afternoons just lazing by the pool which was clean and nicely landscaped. Even though it was Easter the complex was reasonably quiet which suited us perfectly and allowed us to dip in and out of the pool and simply relax. Our 10 year old made a couple of friends and seemed to really enjoy the holiday.

Estepona is a lovely old resort, not too big, not too small. The place has character, especially the old town which leads up to the church. There are plenty of small shops and restaurants and the evening vibe is very safe and family orientated.

All in all we had a great week at Los Altos de Lunymar. The weather was perfect for the time of year – mid to late 20’s – allowing us to spend most of our time outside soaking up those much needed rays or exploring the local sites.

Car Hire

We used Malagacar.com for the second time. Best described as good value – the car was nearly new and there were no issues when we handed it back. It was a bit of a scrum getting the bus from the airport to their location on the edge of the airport. If we book again we would just jump in a cab – much easier. Recommended for the price but suggest you book early if you want a popular model.

Restaurants

El Gavilan Del Mar – Traditional restaurant in a nice pedestrian square with an orange tree outside. Simple but nice grilled meat, fish, pizza etc – great location just off the main street and near most of the other eateries.

Orient Express – Chinese in the port area – very good meal and nice friendly service. We sat outside with a bottle of very cold Spanish white wine - then had another one!. Recommended.

Beach

We liked El Cristo beach best but it does get very busy on a bank holiday. Take the road that leads to the port car park. Drive through the car park (one way system) then turn right to follow the sandy track for about 800 metres.

“Spanish Office in the Sun!”
Reviewed 14 November 2013 for a stay in September 2013

We booked the apartment as I needed somewhere quiet with a good wifi connection where I could work whilst also enjoying a break away from the UK. The accommodation was great, the location was peaceful (without being to far away from anywhere - although you need to hire a car if you want to get out and do things) and the internet good enough to run my business from Spain for a fortnight.

There are a lot of interesting places to visit nearby (we did Ronda, Marbella, Malaga and Gibraltar) and Estepona is a beautiful "typical" spanish market town.

Can't be positive enough about this holiday, and highly recommend it if you want to escape from the bustle of day-to-day life without being completely cut off.

A very nice appartment. Central. Very close to Estepona. Everything you needed will be there. Even sunbeds to take to the beach. Lovely terrace. Bbq which we don't use. We were with 2 kids. 9 and 3. Had a very good time. We sure will come back. You need a car if you go to this appartment. Angela is a very kind person who will email you and will answers all your questions.
