The hotel was in the heart of old Cadiz, not too difficult to find but best to park the car in the underground car park and walk. It's not far 100-150 metres. We were in room 34 which was very small but had a good bathroom. It was noisy but for a couple of nights it was fine. The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was nothing special but had the basics, cereal, juice, rolls, pastries, cold meats cheese. Tea or coffee. Ideally placed for exploring the old town and recommend the sightseeing bus to give you an overall flavour of the area. We also visited the Osbourne bodega in Puerto de Sta Maria, well worth a detour, great tour plenty of sherry tasting and great shop for souvenirs. Check at the tourist office for tour times. Rating should be good as it is better than average but not real very good!

Room Tip: Not 34, 31,32 and 33 were all larger on the 3rd floor. There are the ones with balconies but no doubt at a premium.

We couldn't decide where to stay in cadiz and chose this location rather than a beach location. It was well located for walking around the old city, however, in that area there is no beach and finding any establishment even with a sea view is a challenge. This was dissappointing to us. The hotel is located just outside the cathedral and the staff was very helpful and accomodating. They provided us with maps and suggestions upon checkin, helped us find our rental car location even though it came with no street address, and brought us an iron and ironing board on request. The beds are pretty hard, which was not pleasant for us, but others may like it. And, it was the best water pressure we've had so far in Spain.

Room Tip: At least room 21 (maybe all those ending in a 1) is literally right next to the elevator and stairs. On this side of the room you could press the button for the elevator without more than your hand leaving the door. This contributes to alot of noise. The other side of the room faces a street and some windows where (locals I suppose live) the inhabitants or passers by are constantly talking, yelling at each other and making unpleasant noises.

I have stayed in many places over the years, and am not sure if I have found nicer people than those who work at this hotel. Osvaldo in particular was oh so helpful and really did go above and beyond. While it isn't cheap, I recommend splurging on a room with a balcony. Nothing but magnificent. The owners of Patagonia Sur are lucky to have such pleasant staff.

This was the last of five hotels we'd stayed in on our break and the most expensive so after four great hotels we were disappointed to find the room so small. The ensuite being nearly as big as the room. Some of the rooms are larger incorporating a desk/table & chair plus the two nice rooms on the roof.

The breakfast selection was fine and there is free wi-fi in the room.

There's an underground car park about 300m away at 20 euros per day which we used. The hotel location is excellent, only 100m from the main cathedral square. Cadiz is a pleasant city to explore with plenty of historical attractions, bars, restaurants shopping and relatively few non-Spanish tourists.

Room Tip: If you can't get one of the two nice rooms ask for one with a desk & chair to avoid getting a really small room.

Location is great, two minutes walk from the Cathedral (and pretty much everything in the old town). The staff was friendly. The breakfast was lovely, but they do not offer any other meals (we were there on a terribly rainy day and my hubby had to run somewhere else to get us a sandwich).
