Description: Bodega Mezquita. Tavern- traditional restaurant located in the Jewish quarter, close to MEzquita Catedral of Cordoba. An exceptional place where you can taste the best plates and tapas of cordovan gastronomy. Family business which we initiated our path in the 60s, is one of the favourite establishments as people from Cordoba as visitor from our city, when they want enjoy of authentic cordovan tapeo and best wines from our land. Cuisine which is made with traditional method, is essence of Andalucian gastronomic culture, with the best products from the rich cordovan land: Iberian ham, sheep cheese and meat from Valle de Los Pedroches, olive oil virgin extra, fortified wine from Montilla Moriles... As could not be otherwise, our specialities are: the famous Salmorejo Cordobes, Berenjenas a la miel, Flamenquin and Rabo de Toro. Our quality is recognised for numerous prize and honours like SICTED among others and the best guides to national and international travels too.

“Sloppy service, indifferent food”
Reviewed 8 March 2012

I don't mind going to a touristy restaurant as long as it performs. This one didn't. Service was inattentive and slow. They forgot to bring the bottle of water I ordered (but remembered to charge me for it). I got a tuna and orange salad and was expecting something special, but didn't get it. Anyone can chop up some lettuce, tomatoes oranges and walnuts and put tuna on top. It wasn't even dressed. All perfectly fresh, but for five euros? Come on. I also got some kind of Moroccan meatball dish. The meatballs were heavy and dull, and the thin bit of sauce was almost flavorless. I could get better meatballs at Trader Joe's. I was looking forward to ordering more dishes, but after those two, I was out of there.

“You must visit Bodegas Mezquita!”
Reviewed 5 March 2012

We ate at this restaurant each of the 2 nights we stayed in Cordoba, as we liked it so much . Friendly and helpful staff, efficient service, menus in English (which helps!) and great food! I especially enjoyed the aubergine chips and honey lamb. You can order tapa size or larger of most of the items on the menu. A particular thanks to the waiter who served us both nights - he was fabulous and even treated us to a complementary glass of sherry at the end of our second meal there.

Highly recommended.

“three visits in 5 days”

This restaurant is open when many others are closed during siesta.
Choices are clear and everything was fresh and delicious. The one dish that kept us returning was the fried grouper, which has been marinated, lightly battered and then deep fried. The sauce that accompanies it is also perfect! One more delight is their very lightly battered slices of eggplant, deep fried, with honey!
Not expensive, friendly staff, clean,....and dependable.

“best introduction to tapas ever !”
Reviewed 22 February 2012

spent an afternoon in Cordoba and wanted to end up eating out but had not researched anything-attracted by their leaflet which clearly explained what menus we could choose(-our initial view of tapas was that you may order them and dislike quite a few! )however it was beautifully served, fantastically tasty wholesome and freshly cooked-nice atmosphere and helpful friendly waiter. We also enjoyed the rate at which the dishes came and without any prompting or anxiety-lovely food and a lovely place-it has inspired us for making tapas at home.

“Tapas lunch!”
Reviewed 16 February 2012

We had a lovely tapas lunch here when we arrived, it's practically beside the Mezquita. It was good value and the portion sizes were quite big, i think we ordered too much:-) It was nice for lunch and seemed pretty busy!
