It was quiet and very clean. Close to a lot of small restaurants. Not far from the city the only draw back is no free parking and breakfast too expensive. Had a good view around then hotel we were lucky to have a fireworks display that night

When I checked in, I requested a room facing away from the busy main road, my request was fulfilled, and I was given a room facing the Innenhof.

I stayed in Standard Room 538. The room was relatively spacious and cozily furbished. There was a desk and desk chair, as well as a vanity desk with bulb mirror and an additional desk chair with armrests, next to the bed. This gave the otherwise down-to-earth room a luxurious touch.

The foyer area of the room contained an open wardrobe rail and a door to the bathroom. There was an additional door that separated the foyer area from the main bedroom part of the room, which was especially appreciated, since it offered further sound insulation between the bedroom and the hotel floor corridor. The room has a stocked minibar.

The air-conditioning is particularly impressive for a hotel in this part of Germany, and was able to sustain cool temperatures in the hot summer, which is definitely a strong selling point of this hotel.

The hotel has a pretty dated furnishing style, which resonates the late 80s. Although probably not very appealing for most people, I feel it gives the hotel an interesting and nostalgic character.

The bathroom had a combination shower-tub. The only issue with the room was the EXCEPTIONALLY POOR WATER PRESSURE in the shower/ bath. The bathtub took approximately 40 minutes to fill, and the experience of taking a shower was INCREDIBLY FRUSTRATING. If it rained like the rain-shower showerhead, I would not use an umbrella! This was so severe that I went to a bathroom fixture store to buy my own showerhead, which enabled me to focus some of the severely compromised water pressure when showering, but barely helped. Interestingly, the water pressure at the sink was powerful and handwashing felt fulfilling.

The complimentary internet access was slow and unstable, at approximately 900 kbps, inadequate for watching anything on YouTube. Paid internet was available for €9.99 per day, which I decided to try for one day; however, I witnessed no noticeable improvement over the complimentary connection.

The hotel is not very conveniently located and tram routes to the Altstadt generally take 25 minutes. Friedensstraße station is a two-minute walk and Alexander-Puschkin-Platz (for the alternative tram journey) is a ten-minute walk from the hotel. The hotel is a 15-minute walk from the centre of the Neustadt.

In summation, the NH Dresden Neustadt is an incredibly affordable hotel, with spacious and comfortable rooms, and impressive air-conditioning for this part of Germany. However, I experienced exceptionally poor water pressure in the shower/ bath. I paid approximately €55 per night during my two-week stay. Although it is certainly not my first choice of hotel in Dresden due to the poor water pressure, the hotel’s affordability and good air-conditioning make it a good hotel of consideration for summer stays.

Room tip: Ask for a room facing the courtyard to avoid the busy main road.

The hotel is very conveniently located, near the city center.
There are public transport stops, a shop near the hotel.
The room is so comfortable, with spacious shower room and WC. Hygiene products are also available. The plumbing is in a good conditions and working normally. Rooms are cleaned daily and everything is very tidy.
There are fresh linens and comfortable beds. The sound insulation is at good level - you can sleep well and relax.
The staff are very nice - friendly, open and client-oriented.
There is an information desk for tourists at the entrance (reception) - mini information service: you can get a map of the city, cards with the main sights of the city.
Breakfast is excelence: tasty and varied.

Stayed at start of April. Temperature outside during day was 14 degrees. Obviously cooler at night. However, the air con was broken so it was impossible to control the temperature. The room was like an oven, so had to open the window, which led to a poor night’s sleep as it’s next to a road and tram line. Unbelievably noisy. I’m not sure if switching air con off in spring is a Central Europe cost saving measure, but this ruined our stay. Otherwise, nice hotel.

Dear Bigbecks,

Thank you very much for your honest words and thoughts. We are terribly sorry for the technical malfunction of the air condition in your room.

Did you inform our employees at the reception that there were some technical problems with the air conditioning? If we had known, I am sure, we would have offered you an instant room change.

Nevertheless, we sincerely apologize for any inconveniences.

Service, room and cleanliness were exellent. The location is outside city center but reachable by public transport (Tram). The only critic is the cost of the breakfast which was not included in the rate.
